When's the best time to take PTO ... when you're staffed on a long project or on the bench

On the bench and anxious! Does everyone have a project lined up immediately after a project ends even if that project weren't the top choice?

Bench has been deep lately for strategy analysts. Word is there’s talks going on with a silicon valley firm… Upvote if you’ve heard the same.

I'm just sick of being on those huge projects that last forever and hard to roll off from.

Has anyone also struggled to get on a project as a new hire? Doing all I can (I think) networking, volunteering, speaking to staffing manager etc but can't seem to get off the bench.

What's the craziest absence or stunt you pulled while being on the bench?

When you're on the bench so long that you start considering driving for Uber on the downtime. On a serious note, has anyone done this?

I have the option of staying on a tech project that I don't like for 4 months, or roll off early and try to get on an interesting strategy project that starts in a month. Should I take the risk?

Recently received pay bump to stay with my bank by leveraging 2 outside offers. I have been offered a VP2 role (currently VP1) with another group within the bank. More work, but really interesting role doing the same work but for different clients. Hiring manager essentially said it would be a lateral move with no pay bump because I am now making market. Would you still ask for standard 10% promotion bump given I am moving from VP1 to VP2 role & taking on more work?
