Where are some cool vacation destinations to hit up this summer? I'm not sure Europe will be open to Americans yet, and we went to Cancun a couple years ago. Any suggestions would be nice :) planning on going for a week or two around 4th of July.

Dominican Republic is beautiful. Dominicus Beach is one of my very favorite ever.

Costa Rica is beautiful.

Sint Maarten is open and it rocks.

I second Sint Maarten been there twice pre-COVID

Just got back from a National Parks trip to Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon. May be a bit too hot for my blood in summer, but if you like an active vacation the National Parks are great and no vaccination / travel restriction concerns (provided you’re in US).

I did Yosemite and Sequoia a few summers ago over a week and that was a great time / length to go, if you want a bit longer road trip through San Fran / Golden Gate up to Redwood.

I second national parks! We visited Yellowstone last summer and it was so amazing to be there without the tour busses. We just got back from the Grand Canyon last week for Spring Break. We are going to the Olympic National forest outside Seattle for a week in June. And going to national parks does not have to mean roughing it. We always rent a spacious airbnb so the kids have their own room and bathroom and we can make our own food. There's nothing better than hiking in nature all day but coming home and being able to jump into a hot tub and binge watch a show on the telly.

Because of COVID we are driving not flying currently and luckily all of these destinations are within a day's drive. See what is in your area.

Costa Rica is open, we just came back from Tamarindo few days ago. It can be relaxing, if you go to the beach, or active - rainforests. We did both to mix it up

Looks like travel is truly coming back in full swing - the good and the bad!
The good: got upgraded after boarding and first class had pre-departure beverages on a regional flight!
The bad: bad weather over the Midwest has left so many people stranded. O’Hare was actually totally closed for hours on end due to a *tornado alert*

I will be moving to a new City soon and may have 2 offers, one is a small firm, another is Aws. Although AWS is the company I can see myself be successful in, since they encourage their employees to grow, I have heard a lot about Aws and other big companies laying off people when I see posts on LinkedIn hence I am afraid to jump into it and my budget after taking moving expenses out of my pocket will be tight too so as to survive during lay off in a big city in case. Any suggestions?

If anyone is thinking about going on flex time, I would highly recommend it. It might not work for everyone, but my experience has been a positive one. I took a 20% pay cut along with 20% reduced hours. I am able to support my family with that income and my firm respects my limited hours, but I still need to plan to make sure I can complete tasks in my reduced hours too. Anyways, if you like what you do, but don’t like the long hours and can take a pay cut, I would do it.
