Help! I moved into a new apt building in November. rent here is about 3k but avg rent in this area is way less. There’s been many things I’ve noticed AFTER moving in but the one thing that I can’t get over is the people who live above me. I HEAR their music at 7 am. Like I can sing along to the lyrics that’s how loud it is. It sounds like someone is running back and forth / moving furniture alllll day. It’s driving us insane. What is wrong with me? Ex banker here who got absolutely burned out and exited to PE. Learned the hard way PE was no better so I landed at a cushy Corp dev job at a large tech making 200-250 working 30 hour weeks. This sounds like the dream right? I don’t understand the value of therapy. After having tried multiple therapists it feels like I am just talking and saying the things I already know. Any actions we discuss are obvious things.

Am I doing something wrong or is therapy just an expensive way of doing guided self reflection?

One of my parents suddenly passed away. I don’t think a week is enough for me to recover and plan for the other parent. The right thing for me and my family is at least three weeks off while I focus on future plans for the surviving parent. I’m not sure how my team will react but who cares.
