They’re in short supply. Go on Twitter and follow Microsoft, Gamestop, etc., to get alerts about the next drop.
Then on drop date, be ready at the helm. Have your account set up and your CC ready. Then when the drop time hits, be quick and hope you have luck on your side. They sell out in literal minutes.
Why? Short supply, but the biggest obstacle is re-sellers who are using bots are buying all the inventory up so they can sell them at double the cost. Took me 6-7 months to get a PS5 because I refuse to pay resell prices.
I would definitely advise making sure the source you are buying from is credible. I've heard of way too many people so desperate to buy one that they end up getting scammed. I'm sure your nephew will be thrilled that you managed to track one down for him.

I have two xboxes for sale. Buy both!
I'm with M1 - be careful who you buy from. Lots of scams out there. I'd stick with well-known sellers, like Walmart or Gamestop. Good luck!
Thanks for the feedback. So I can’t just walk into a store and get it. This is not what I expected. Can I buy PlayStation?
PS4? Yes. PS5? No.
Maybe you can get lucky on FB marketplace or IG!
Good luck! The Christmas crunch is already upon us.
I agree with the above...they are in serious demand these days and it's hard to get them. Gamestop and Walmart are obvious choices, and you might be able to find smaller retailers in your area potentially. Snap 1 has the right approach tbh. You could try reseller apps, FB marketplace etc but the price hike is crazy
