If you’re new to makeup, I suggest signing up for a personal makeover at Sephora and to go when it’s less crowded (mornings). You do have to commit to a minimum spend (maybe $50?), but you get dedicated advice and tutorials for that hour. It’s well worth it! I got one before starting a new job, for a refresh, and it was a great way to learn new techniques and try a different look

I don’t have a brand recommendation but once you DO find a brand you love, you can google “temptalia foundation matrix,” input the brand/tone of your foundation, and it will spit out what the most similar shade is in other foundations. So if you go to Sephora and get matched in Fenty, you can then find what you shade should be in something cheaper, like NYX or L’Oréal. I’ve done this with almost all of my foundations and it works great! Good luck!

As someone who went from no makeup to sometimes a full face these days, makeup is the besttttt MAC usually has good stuff for our darker skin tone, but if you want a cheaper option, L’Oréal always has my back - love their foundation.

OP, sorry to hear that! Going straight to foundation can be hard if you’ve never worn face makeup before. A BB or CC cream may be a good first step for you, or even MAC’s mineral skin finish, depending on your skin type. If you are ready to try foundations, NARS has a good range of colors for Indian skin tones

Light south Asian skin tone here. I second Bobbi brown--I 'graduated' to them after using MAC for several years because I find their products less drying to the skin. They have a powder foundation which exactly matches my skin tone and facial conditions (oily etc) and you can choose at the point of application whether you want light, medium or heavy coverage. Other options--I use some lakme products (made by unilever) that I bought in India last year. Also try boots (British brand--which you can now buy at target). You may also want to post this question in the desi bowl....

OP its called compact not compaq. Watch youtube beuty tutorials. Have a lot of great product recos and tips

I have medium-deep South Asian skin tone. Bobbi Brown has been my perfect match for years! I have the foundation, but most days I don’t feel like it so I just use the concealer with a bit of Laura Mercier powder to take care of the shine. The new line by Rihanna (called Fenty) will also have big range of brown shades to match your skin tone as well

Estée Lauder double wear is amazing for brown skin

I'm Indian and I love the foundation from Giorgio Armani.. it's called luminous silk foundation. My shade is 7.5. You can try few shades around that. Available in Nordstrom

I use a mineral make up brand called Jane Iredale. Love the coverage and allows my skin to breathe. They have a decent variety of shades.

like

MAC!!!

EY1: tried those, I always feel so plasticky after such sessions. They also always make me a few shades darker instead of matching my skin tone.

Do a makeover at Mac- they just require a 50 dollar purchase at the end

My work is all loan staff. The challenging part is I have to force myself to complete my job. I’ve never was like this before. I have spoken (continued)

Does anyone have any advice on how to figure out what the average multiplier for billable hours is in a certain city? If this isn’t clear, I’ll receive x ($) times (the difference between my max billable hours and my min) as my yearly bonus. I know what number my firm uses but was told it’s been the same for years. I’d love to advocate for a raise with numbers reflecting averages in our city but have no idea how to find this information. Thanks!

Need to move to the burbs w/fiancee, but where? Staying in BK is not an option, though we will eventually work in the city 1-2 days/week (someday?). Won't do long island, need a 2 car garage w/space to work on cars and also space for a woodshop whether it's in basement or elsewhere. Planning on having kids and because we'll work from home a lot still need office space. I grew up in burbs and it wasn't so bad because I lived walking distance to train station into the city & nice downtown. 800k!
