Is MBB worth it? I’ve never been in mbb or big 4. Just smaller consulting firms. Have a competing offer between FAANG and MBB. I’m in tech and FAANG is more interesting for my career as well as preferred work culture. However, I’ve seen a lot about MBB here and kind of want to join just so I can say I was in MBB. Is it gonna be killer hours? Promotion politics? Biases on my lack of education? hoping to hear what others have to say
The hustle culture is killing me. Working until midnight everyday with no salary raise this year. Is it time to move? Just heard Deloitte people are getting raise this year.
How frequently should one expect or advocate for a raise at a small firm? I moved to a new firm (about ten lawyers) about two and a half years ago. After my first year I got a 20% raise following a brief and exclusively positive performance review. Its been about 17 months since then and silence. I have the general sense that the firm struggled a little financially during COVID and I don't want to seem ungrateful or greedy, but apparently the firm is doing well enough to hire more associates.
What’s with all these lower-tiered firms matching the DPW scale and the V10 staying quiet? Is it indicative of another raise coming?
When did you get your first promotion, what was your title change, and how much of a pay increase did you experience?
Considering a lateral to Polsinelli in KC due to their pay raise. Anyone have advice/input on Polsinelli culture and hours?? Or any input on other big law offices in the region? Currently a third year transactional attorney at a mid size firm.
Wondering why the bonuses are so low? Here is the reason - 598 managers and 651 senior manager promotions in Tax. That’s the most lopsided promotion stats ever.
I got a fat raise and promotion this year but that hasn’t cured my depression. Considering leaving and a paycut to just make it to next year alive.
One of the SMs is supporting my promotion case but they are lately trying to micromanage me and ask all nagging questions unnecessarily. Unsure how to handle this professionally.
Ok, guys I am taking tips on becoming a direct hire partner in FS. I have 10 years of work experience, all in FS. Underpaid and under-leveled. Can move to VP at a bank or jump to higher level. The promotion slog is too long.
Can anyone tell me about vizient? Didn’t really know much about them but they’re offering me 33% raise in base from 150 to 200. Just randomly applied a few weeks back.
Thinking of downloading my GMAT books in my work laptop (using the ‘Bookshelf’ app) so I can study on the go w/o having to bring my personal laptop. Is this safe or would it raise a flag?
Looking for some guidance/ input regarding salaries... What's a good general range for a promotion to Marketing Manager who would be overseeing all national (USA) marketing for a Global company? In-house, 4 brands, based out of our LA office. Thanks!
Promotion came thru this week. For the first time, asked my driver to stop at the gas station so I can get a beer. His response “typically only men headed home to their wives request this, good week?"
For the people who didn’t get a pay raise or got a decrease then this is for you. Not sure I want to make less money next year because Biden is elected.
Friend of mine took me out for dinner, and on the car ride back I casually suggested we stop for ice cream. He raised his voice “I have things to do, we can’t just do this.” And immediately apologized. I shut down when men raise their voice and felt disrespected, but I didn’t want to be hostile and argue about it with him in the car, so we rode back in silence. I also don’t know how to (or if I should) bring it up since we aren’t dating. How do you address this (or do you just let it go)?
Is there such thing as early promotion in the Big4? If I don’t get promoted this October, when is the earliest I can get promoted?
Growth Markets peeps! What is everyone’s feelings about salary and bonuses? Manager here - saw on another bowl that someone has a bonus potential up to 33% because they’ve been tagged as DA. Is this real?!
i have to go back to work after a week of pto... i've never felt this devastated in my entire life
Want to do bonvoy points trip to Hawaii in late Jan / feb for 5-7 days. I am currently leaning toward Maui. Wailea beach/ritz seem like the best options. Any suggestions on hotels/island Going with GF
It feels like this bowl is mostly about jobs, salary etc.. let's change the topic for a bit. For those of you, that have been implementing Workday for a while, have seen the evolution of the UX.. Curious to hear some thoughts/quirks (positive/negative) on the some of the recent changes. I'll go first: The search bar in the middle and the annoying search suggestions/recent searches when navigating between pages, profile, config tasks... What are yours?
Anyone have insight into the HHS PSC group? Have an interview lined up there but after doing some research online, not sure it’s a place that I want to work at.
Dow off 700 points also
Has your company asked you to come back to work in the office or are you still fully remote? If you have gone back to working in the office, what makes the experience enjoyable for you?
What exactly is an ACD’s responsibility? I’m a senior cw with a solid book but still have lots to learn, and no leadership experience. Would I be ready for that gig? Is it more creative or leadership?
Wanted to work from home today but my manager told me otherwise. No good reason other than needing me at her side as she reviews work. I guess phones, Instant message, and webex aren't enough!
Parents - my company is thinking of hosting an optional, free biscuit making class over zoom in the evening for anyone who wants to participate and/or bring their kids. What time is best? 6:30? 7? Not sure when bedtime is for elementary/middle schoolers these days.
Any tips on finding motivation after maternity leave? I’ve never been so uninterested in my job and am instead just thinking of all the time i’m missing with my baby 😕
Any perspective on m&a with regards to the current situation? Is M&A going to be the most hit? What are people and especially people on Visa doing as backup plans?
Up by 45 points after the Kamara TD and my opponent has Browns defense tonight... I think I’m going to the championship!!!
Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.
I’m 1.5 post MBA and working in Monitor Deloitte. Looking to relocate and lateral to MBB Toronto/Montreal office (from US). Any past MD folks who have made the transition?
How would you go about telling a company you don’t want to do anymore interviews? I was originally told probably two or three, then “one last one”, and now “potentially two more”. In each interview, they talk like I have the role and keep asking how much notice I would need to give as if they’re in a rush to get me in, but then schedule another round of interviews. Honestly the interviews seem more like meet and greets. Cont.
