Is CPA worth it if I only work in industry accounting? I have my bachelors and masters in acctg, finished 2 years ago. I have 4.5 years experience in industry acctg, all at the same company. This company doesn’t have many CPA’s. But I’m worried if I try to leave this company in the future, I’ll get overlooked without the CPA. What do you think of someone getting CPA license but no experience in public acc? (I did a 6 mo audit intern in college, but that’s it) or maybe a CMA would be better 4 me?

Hi everyone, I’m looking at making a career move from operations to sales, specifically tech. I say this because on my team I’ve created a niche for myself as the go-to tech person and was heavily involved in choosing software for multiple systems supported by Ops. Whenever I hear someone pitch to me about software, I always have to pitch back to my non-tech savvy team about which software we need and why. I’ve always been told I’d be good at sales, how do I switch over?

How do you remind yourself why you got into the field in the first place? Sometimes it feels like my passion for the job is long gone.

Does a good PM need to specialize in a type of product?

I've heard a number of times that PM is a discipline where skills are agnostic of what needs to be built/sold, but I'm having a hard time understanding how domain expertise can possibly be viewed as anything short of career defining for a PM. The notion that someone would be equally effective as a PM at Google vs Ford vs Netflix regardless of degree of experience in ads vs automotive vs media feels very wrong to me.

I’m sending resumes out far and wide, ideally I’d be in a new role ASAP. I’m already starting to get requests for phone screenings so formal interviews will probably be on the way. The kicker is that my wife is 6 months pregnant and our first child is due next February, which is busy season the public accounting jobs I am applying to. Hello! I got an offer for Director of Ops role at an early stage startup (1.9 year old). The base salary is $150k with a $15k bonus after one year plus 9,500 shares. Is this a good comp package? I have 5YOE in Ops (associate, manager level).

I have submitted my docs this Monday for a position post 3 rounds and a case study interview round.

How much time generally it takes to roll out the offer letter??

I wish it would be morally acceptable to publicly trash companies that did 5/6 rounds of interviews with you and completely ghost after. Most of these were done during work hours. Required a lot of arrangements. A total of 5+ hours over weeks. So disrespectful.

Any books/self help materials for someone who is constantly worrying (and waste a lot of unnecessary time)? E.g. No matter if i pass or fail an interview, there is always something to worry about.
