Where does one purchase a car nowadays? I’m looking for a used/pre-owned vehicle around the NYC area. Hertz appears to be selling tons of cars, but not sure I’m seeing the best possible prices. Looking for a reliable car, likely a Subaru or BMW.

BMW is not known for reliability.

likefunny

For reliability get a honda/Toyota or Acura if you want more luxury. You can get solid deals on certieifed pre-owned though most dealers. BMW maintenance is a pretty penny. Hondas (esp accords) can go on forever with regular maintenance.
I also have really been liking kia, have an optima on year 6 now with no regrets

FB Marketplace has actually been a great source for used cars... even ones a few years old. I wouldn’t buy from Hertz... renters treat cars like crap and they’re usually base models.

We got a used Honda at Paragon. No complaints and we love the car.

Truecar is decent but like the others said, BMW is not reliable. Look at Toyota, Honda, Hyundai for used and reliable.

Ok, after much more research - I have honed in on Toyota RAV4, Mazda cx3, Honda CR-V, all Subaru crossovers/smaller SUVs (Crosstrek, forester, outback). Thank you everyone for steering me away from BMW, that would not have been a wise decision.

I’ll be checking fb marketplace first, thanks all!

I don’t wanna complicate your search, but I really like my Nissan Rogue..similar sizing to your picks

Is it wise to negotiate a "take it or leave it" offer? Also, when there is such an offer, do you think that company really looking to hire you? It does not encourage any communication which gives an impression that they do not need you but if you join at their offer, they are okay. To put things in perspective, offer is inline with industry average but slightly lower than what I am making right now.

I found a great great home near family perfect location to things, decent size, but is expensive. Hi there, I’d really love some advice from you all. In the last year I had to sell our home in Boulder, CO and embark on a new build process on a home in Tampa, FL. It turns out my dad can’t afford to live on his own so we found a home in FL that would have an in law suite. We locked in a rate but it expired and they are unwilling to extend due to the fact the builder is delayed and supply chain issues. Is there a smart way to structure loans now I’m unaware of? I’m super concerned.
