@SM 1 - I hope you weren’t bashing OP’s grammar. How many languages do you speak fluently? I’m assuming 1 (English).

OP- congrats on the upgrade in life, some of the strongest most successful people I’ve met have lived through tragedies or have chips on their shoulders to help push them.

Congratulations and a very happy birthday OP! I wish you and your family continued success. Having visited Kabul a few years ago, I’m inspired by the resilience of the people trying to rebuild their community.

I would encourage anyone to read about the Afghanistan cricket team, built from refugees playing cricket, that just qualified for the Cricket World Cup, reserved for only the top 10 countries globally. Truly amazing. A feel good story to continue this great start to Saturday.

The thing is, most of us thought America was already great. That’s why we fought so hard to get here. It’s odd that people who should know better b/c they had the great fortune of being born here seem to forgot that. Sad

Afghanistan 🇦🇫

There’s a little balloon on my chest that keeps swelling and making me smile either giddiness. The world can be a strange and wonderful place

I was 10 when I saw a decapitated body on the street, result of a turf war between Eastern European mafias. Today I saw my neighbor yell at another’s dog walker for letting the dog pee on the side walk I have moved up in life, you see.

And the impeccable grammar

Op dropping a “sad”! Best thing I’ve read all day.

Thats what makes America amazing. Everyone has a fair shot to go after and get what you want. Kudos to you and this amazing country

Great post.

You are the real MVP. Much respect!

Congratulations, OP! 🎉🎉

@M1, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Shots are not the same for everyone. There are pockets of people who definitely have to work harder to get to the same place.

@KPMG1....did you misinterpret my comment or something because what you’re implying I said is not what I said....😒😒 Go read it again. Thanks.

Congrats again, OP! 🎉🎉 Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Awesome! So happy for you - we are lucky to have you!!!

Happy Birthday!! I love your Outlook!

OP - تولدت مبارک

You’re a rockstar. I don’t know you, but I’m so proud of what you have overcome to get to where you are right now. Continue to strive forward, and always try to help others so that their path is easier than the one you had to take.

Love this OP! I hope more of us learn to be grateful for the things we have and the opportunities given to us just by being here

Like clockwork, someone (ahem that's you C2) shows up to say "I know you had it hard and stuff BUT there bigger victims so don't think you're a victim because other people have it worse"

That is awesome. Just shows how great of a place America truly is. Rule of law, free markets, the personal freedom to challenge yourself, learn new things and grow.
Very, very cool OP.

Good friends but I don’t get this lifestyle of spending money left and right and being dressed up for everything

First year associate, out of A3 clerkship. I need to stay at the firm for a year to keep my bonus, which I need to pay my loans, but I'm gonna GTFO the minute the year is up. Even at a nice firm, expectations and WLB are unbearable. How to I make it through the year with my sanity intact?

When there’s a lull at work, what the hell do you do with your time sheet? I ask for more work to do but tbh I cannot actually bill 40 hours sometimes. Feels like I’m gonna get my hand slapped for relying on admin time but literally don’t know how else to fill it out. What do you do?
