I’ve said this countless times in this bowl, but ATS systems DO NOT filter your resume out or automatically reject you because of keywords on your resume. They might help your resume get highlighted as highly qualified, but if you’re getting rejected it’s because a human rejected you. If you’re having to do that much work to your resume, maybe you need to be more selective about the opportunities you apply to? You shouldn’t have to edit your resume that much. A bullet or two here or there maybe, but editing keywords doesn’t make that much sense. If they’re skills you have, why aren’t they already in your resume?

Ditto this. I never actually “search” for candidates in an ATS, i view it as an internal productivity tool for me to keep shit organized. It’s just a bonus if someone applies via ATS so they come to me (vs me having to source), but it’s not some sort of vetting system as candidates commonly think it is.

Everytime I see this kind of crap, I was to resist because I see it as click bait. But everyone truly needs to understand, recruiters WANT TO HIRE PEOPLE. Our job is NOT to close doors or play some ridiculous game.

An ATS is NO different from a CRM in which to manage customers, a bookkeeping platform for accountants to track money, etc. It's just a place that stores the information we work with people!!

Recruiters make money by hiring people if they are external/contingent recruiters, and internal recruiters also have performance metrics that need to meet to be eligible for bonuses or even to keep their jobs.
Our job is NOT to collect a million resumes and then sit back and do nothing.
Our job is to find the best people for the job.
If you are not getting calls, then make sure you are applying to jobs you are reasonably qualified for (at least 60%+ of the requirements).
If you are using one resume filled with internal jargon that doesnt specifically translate to an organization's goals, and you are just smattering that same resume all over town, we will notice that you hardly even read our job description, we will not call you.

Last thing any of us wants to do is say, "hey! thank you for your interest in company ABC, we'd really like to set u a call!" and you are then like "I'm sorry, who is this?".
No.

Your resume and your application is marketing material for yourself. You have to sell yourself. True, the company also has o sell the opportunity and the hiring team, and the offer to you in return. It's a 2 sided sale. Everyone is selling.

That's the cold hard truth, learn this, accept it, and I promise you will have better results.

Now that our summer trip is booked, I officially have 5.5 months to drop 15lbs (I gained like 5lbs over the last week due to moving and eating out as we have no food, otherwise the goal would have been 10). Considering how poor the Uk pound is performing at the moment. It’s about £1 = $1.1 when it’s always been more like £1 = $1.4. Salaries in the UK are awful and kinda always have been £50k for a freelance AD in London is shit money. I used to earn that 25 years ago when I only had 2 or 3 years experience under my belt. I had a really nice 2 bed flat in west London then that cost £1000 a month these days it would easily cost almost 3 times that amount. Then a pint would be £2.20ish now £5 easily.
