Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte
Hi all. I am trying to determine if I am being compensated fairly. I am a tax manager (about to start my second year as manager) and have been with EY since staff 1. I was promoted to manager in June 2020 (during covid) and received a 7.5% raise. The class above me has mentioned they received much higher raises during their promotion years. My base salary is now approx. 97K. Any insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Got an interview with Amazon within their Advertising department. I hear working for Amazon can be great if you get into the right department. Anyone have insights to their advertising department? Good or bad? Also, would love some interview tips if you have them! (It’s for an Executive Assistant position) thank you!
Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloweekend!

Sounds like you do not have an MBA
K1. MBA is for start guys not tech consulting. Common now!
I think OP the issue is margin. Reality is unless you change your career path to Product (FAANG), Biz OPs (FAANG), banking, VC, strategy consulting, etc there is going to be a ceiling for technology consultants because the margins/billing rates are low.
An alternative path is going independent. Seems you would be a good fit! Best of luck OP!
@OP - Manager level at Deloitte, PwC doesn’t pay much for tech talent
Are you targeting the right levels? I feel like some of the local DC companies have titles that are very inflated.
Happy to refer you :)
Lol I just moved back to DC from NYC. Spent 2017 and bit of 2018 there. Yeah the 4K apartment ain’t going to pay itself.
Cloud consulting is hot right now, got 160k offer in DC with 3 years experience in cloud (6 yoe overall)
Enterprise Architect. I’m at the upper band, then again many of my peers are in PMO/Scrum roles, which can be done by junior and/or offshored.
Move over to a Big 4 firm and or get aligned with tech that has growing demand like AWS, Salesforce, or Appian.
Also consider applying to companies that are tech leaders and highly profitable like Cap1.
Are you C&M? Have some solid conversations with your career coach and MD about what it will take for you to get to an SM level.
Accenture - Senior Managers at Accenture clear over $200K and about $300 all-in with bonus and RSUs...
And focus on the higher offers. Can someone verify if my numbers are actually good for the area? I am not in fed practice. I am LLP and work on projects with significant footprint (both revenue and visibility). Been with the firm for 8years and already did a salary negotiation a few weeks back with outside offer.
Do you have a high-demand skill? I’m making much more living in a tier-2 city..
We pay tech consulting mbas after they make manager so two years after mba about 170-180k base salary.
Tech consulting within the m&a deal space to be more specific.
M1, curious whats your skill?
I am in delivery and not strategy and have strong tech skills.
K1 - yes, I don’t have a MBA, and I don’t see how it would add value unless I switch tracks from current path. DMing for referral.
M1 - I specialize in oracle middleware oracle erp cloud, with the latest releases. So very high demand. I help with RFPs as an SME in addition to delivery. (What is your speciality and city?)
M2 - good point. I never worked with any of the companies I am applying for. My apps are just cold applications. Perhaps, that’s the issue.
If you have strong tech skills and want to really deviate from your current path, you could try to transition into being a developer. They can make 160+ pretty quickly/easily
Where? I am having the exact problem finding Dev roles in DC area that pay that much. I am sure they are easy to find in west coast. I can pick up a specialization or dev framework over few months on my own (I have done this before), but the exit ops are not there.
Come to NYC! The downside is that 160 won’t buy you much here :(
