Where to go in Europe in July? I heard Italy is super crowded and you can’t really enjoy. Thinking about Switzerland or an alternate location. Or would it be not too bad to stick with Italy?

I’d look at Scandinavia if you want to avoid the crowds. Denmark, Norway and Sweden are all reasonably warm in July and as most Europeans travel to Southern Europe for summer vacations, it will be far less busy.

I went to Spain and Portugal 2 summers ago and absolutely loved it! If you don't mind the heat, I would recommend Portugal as it's still a little underrated and has some of the most amazing beaches I've ever been to.

I loved Barcelona and Amsterdam (not for weed). Prague is great fun. What about Berlin?

I’d vote for Switzerland if you enjoy hiking and the outdoors. You can escape the heat and humidity with altitude, and it only ever gets truly crowded at most touristy places

Depends on what you’re interested in doing. You can’t really escape tourists in July unless you go to remote places.

I’ve done Italy and Prague in July/August, super hot, super crowded. Italy was lovely enough that it made up for that, Prague was unbearable. But you definitely need to plan, book in advance, take siestas, check hotels for air con.

All the others (except for Switzerland) I’ve been in off peak/shoulder periods and they were lovely and still quite warm (Spain/Portugal). Can’t escape the tourists though but it’s not that bad

Also would vote for the Baltics (especially Latvia and Estonia) if you want something off the beaten tourist path. Compact and easy to get around, beautiful (though mountain-less) scenery, cute capitals and seaside towns, few tourists and that’s peak weather.
