Depends on risk and how much of that $8k remains for a loss or how much you hope to gain. You’re missing too much information to offer help.

Do you NEED at least $8k in 6months? If yes then HYSA whilst boring will give the result you need (not want)
Or you willing to have $4k (or even less)? Know people who do big YOLO plays. Heck a few people made millions with that kind of money when GME blew up (but they were in it with aggressive options before even a hint of it blowing up). But the likelihood of finding another is low so you’ll likely end with $0.
Even putting all the money into VOO is market wide but we could easily have a downturn next year with the Fed rate increases coming or the Fed rate increases are already priced in. No one knows for certain and anyone who says they do you should ignore.
