Sounds like you aren't focused on earning points, but big thing with Residence Inn and Town Place Suites is that you earn half as many points as all other properties. Courtyard, Fairfield, and Spring Hill Suites are on the lower end, safe bet is to go for whichever is newest/most recently renovated. JW Marriotts are generally the best (without getting into the Ritz and Edition properties), followed by Renaissance, then generic Marriotts and Autograph. Since Autographs were former independent hotels, quality can vary a lot by property, but they can be quirkier. https://skift.com/2016/09/21/every-one-of-marriotts-30-hotel-brands-explained/
Anyone joining Bangalore 4th july . Let’s meet
Do you want to go into the city or stay by the airport? It also depends on what airport you are flying in and out of there are two big ones
Would prefer to stay near interesting areas in the city, but am flying through Narita. We’ll probably take the subway to the city
Rooms are tiny at Narita, most of Japan
The capsule hotel at narita is cool for a night if you get in late or leave early and are solo. Otherwise look at asakusa or roppongi / minato ku neighborhoods. Airbnb is good if you’re not trying to use points
Do not stay by the airport!!! Trains stop running at 1am so you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the night life.
Ropponji is way too gritty and hard to get back to Narita. I had a hotel in Shinjuju at $120/night, a hotel at the Shibuya station was under 150 too. Hell even some around Tokyo station can be within your budget
Great advice! Might do airbnb near asakusa
Feel free to DM for some asakusa restaurant recs.
Airbnb in Japan is a great experience- very clean places and polite hosts
