Freelancers: day rate and your title, go!
We’re still completely voluntary - some people come in 2-3 days a week as they live close and others once a week (mostly Thursdays) and others not at all. It really works for everyone I think in terms of balancing individual and team needs.

"critical to the development of our creative product"
Well that's unfortunate for Sid Lee because every other place has been doing just fine. Maybe (just maybe) it's not the whole working remotely thing that's the issue over there.
You’re really going to call the founders of the company “new leadership”? 😂
I will not go back in office full time. There are days when strategists need to think and work and not be interrupted every 15 minutes and in meetings all day. I will go back in for specific and defined in-person jams, pitches if needed and client presos if needed (but honestly our clients would rather just do video calls).
3 days in a row in and out of pointless in-person meetings, 2 non-consecutive days to get all your actual work done without constant interruptions.
Zulu is mostly remote.
Zulu said they will not mandate anyone to go into the office. Smart move. If you make people come in, you lose good talent.
For anyone wondering:
Starting in September we’re “expected” to be in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 10am-4pm.

Frankly that’s the worst scenario and sign of toxic leadership.
If you want people in, make it a policy and live with the ramifications but at least expectations are clear.
Leaving it to “personal opinions” as an implied expectation is trash.
3 days is aggressive. Most agencies from what I hear are either doing 2 days a week or volunteer.
We are being asked to do two days in office on non-prescribed days and I am ok with that. I feel like that’s the max any agency should be expecting if they want to retain people.
Haven’t heard of any Tier-1 or 2 agencies that are fully remote in Toronto. I know a couple people who have negotiated it on an individual basis, but they’ve generally been there for a few years at least.
That there’s no obligation to come back to the office if you don’t want to…forever.
They pay a lot for that space on Queen so I’m not surprised they want some value for it lol
Starting in September, Wednesdays and Thursdays will be “agency days” and we’re being asked to go in 1 of those days per week, your choice which (and can change week to week). There will for sure be people who also go in on other days or more than once a week if they want/need to.
Power in numbers. If you don’t go in, you can’t all be fired.
I don’t think anyone will be fired for not coming in, as long as they’re doing good enough work.
Dentsu implemented a “work from anywhere” policy during the pandemic and have no requirements to go into the office, per repeated confirmation from the CEO. I know they would like to have people coming in more regularly, but it’s not mandatory.
Isn’t Phil the new ceo? Or is it Martin?
Phil is the global CEO.
Martin is the CEO of Sid Lee Canada.
