Are the big 4 the only consulting companies that requires work papers after each engagement? Seems like an audit thing.
I am terrible at negotiating salary because I often undervalue myself. Looking for thoughts on base comp ranges for the following: - 12 YOE (mostly in industry) - ETL, analytics, and BI heavy experience (SQL) - Technical background but a lot of business/ops team interaction as well - Leaving B4 consulting to go back to industry - Prefer Senior IC role, but overseeing 1 - 3 jr analysts ok - Live in a LCOL state - 5+ years remote working experience - fintech, martech exp - some python/r
Does anyone do IT audit work at Protiviti? Is the work life balance actually better than B4?
With the new cohort system does PDubs match offers that are outside of the cohort range? Say if I'm an SA3 and am offered manager at another Big 4; would they match the offer?
Any robo-advisors (or other places you’d recommend) where we’re allowed to park $? Found out that I have $ just sitting in my Vanguard brokerage account that hasn’t been traded & will need to decide myself which funds to invest this $ — don’t have the expertise or time to do this Note: There are limitations for us at Big 4, since we’re audit firms
I have an offer to join Commercial Assurance but I’m not sure what career path that could lead me to if I was to leave Big 4 - thoughts?
Have a senior consultant offer from a Big 4 and a product manager offer from a pharmacy retailer (cvs, walgreens etc), but both are similar roles in digital PM/strategy. Which offer would be best to take to help me eventually exit to the tech industry in a similar role?
Can anyone provide input on Grant Thornton’s SALT practice? Considering leaving Big 4 SALT for GT, but want to gather more input before making a decision.
If you are not a partner, do any of the Big 4 have a mandatory retirement age? I have a friend who is working in industry and has been approached by a few firms as he has a very desirable technical skill set. He is in his 50's and doesn't want to make a move unless there is some runway to keep working. He basically could work as long as he wants where he is at. The pay increase would be significant for him to jump to but if he is mandatorily forced out in a few years it might not be worth it.
What are people experiencing about going from a small local firm to big 4 or RSM or BDO? What is the learning curve? Do people think differently of you since you didn’t go straight to big 4?
Been working midsize for 9 months. I really want to go up to the big 4… 1) is it too early to leave? 2) Is it too late to apply? I’m on the east coast. Preferably NY/NJ if anyone can reference. 3) how do I explain to the recruiter why I’m leaving so early?
With Google employees unionizing, makes you wonder if other professional service employees could follow. What are the chances something similar happens at Big 4?
Wanted to get thoughts on if there was a service line in the Big 4 world that has a work/life balance that doesn't exceed 45 hours of work per week? Or is that blasphemy?
Are firms willing to negotiate the role with campus hires? I received an offer for a big 4 in risk, which I signed early in September, but just now received another offer in TAS from a different firm. While I much prefer the big 4 firm, I do not want to work in risk anymore. Would a big 4 be willing to change groups? Have you heard of anyone able to do this? I feel kind of bad, but I truly despise the idea of working in risk now. ( My friend who's in the role right now hates it)
Is anyone getting a h1 transfer after the premium processing has been suspended. I got an offer with another big 4, but recruiter mentioned that it takes about 6-8 months to get h1 transfer 😩 (contd)
For non-Big 4 people (RSM, GT, etc), did your pre-employment background check reveal any pending charges for gross misdemeanors?
I’ve been talking to a guy for a few months. He works at a big 4 and will have bouts of silence (like multiple days) in response to anything from pleasantries to nudes. When he’s engaged he’s totally into me and talks about how much he likes me and wants to move things forward and then nada. I love talking to him when he’s present but don’t get the hot/cold. Sometimes he blames work and others he doesn’t address it all. Is he just busy and I don’t get it or is this all red flags shady?
I’ve gotten an RFE sheet request for my H1-B petition. Does this hamper my chances of getting the visa ? Because my degree is directly related to my role and is also clearly mentioned in the job description. So I’m not sure why I’ve gotten this. Anyone have experience with the same ?
I have 9 yoe and have a corp finance consulting role at a well known rx firm. I have been with the firm for a little over a year and am already bored. The work doesnt seem to be very challenging or interesting. Prior to this role i did corp dev and business dev in industry, i also did two years of pe straight out of college but it was outside the US. Is it normal for me to just feel that the work i am doing right now is way easier or mundane than what i used to do before?
Companies need to not dilute diversity with this whole diversity of thought jibberish - there are real issues re: bias, race, gender and respect in the workplace. Education around how to build better
Received an offer from Deloitte in NYC as a Advisory Tech Assurance Senior Consultant. They are offering 100k base plus 10k signing bonus. Is this on par with what most are offered for this location and position?
To anyone laid off that has found a job, how long was your search? I have been recently laid off and feel very demotivated by the job market 😔
Hey all! Interviewing and need some insights about accepting a non-tech product marketing job. I currently work in SaaS but was offered a higher paying job in educational publishing. It’s a non-tech product marketing role. I want to take the job but I don’t know if moving out of tech would be a bad move for a product marketer? Would it be harder to pivot back to tech?
SWEs… do you LeetCode even when you’re not actively interviewing? Like just for fun/keep the skills sharp?
After a year of being extremely underpaid, my boss gave me a 30% raise I didn't ask for. Is that normal? Or super generous?
Do I need worksite H1B amendment if I am attending an account presentation (internal, not client facing) for a 3 days? This is not related to my project.
Where to find pre MBA internship opportunities?
Does life get easier post-MBA?
Hello fellow Freelancers! I’ve just quit my FT job as a senior accountant at a Big 4 accounting firm. My hope is to gain enough freelance work to continue working on my own and enjoy freedoms of being a freelancer. Please send me a message if you are looking for a freelance CPA!
Hello Fishes. I have received positive feedback from KPMG interviews for consultant position and have submitted documents. It has been 4 days since I haven't received any call for negotiation or offer letter. How long does it take to get that? Has anyone faced that much delay in getting KPMG offer letter/call for negotiation?
I also have a JD and have been asked to take on roles/tasks of paralegal/associate. How do I turn that into a raise at my annual review without seeming greedy?
What is the promotion cycle in Deloitte? My joining date is on January. Am I eligible for promotion in next year? Can we consider first 1 year as probation period?
Hello, would anyone be willing to provide a referral for any of these companies? Health advances, Clear view, GE healthcare or Regeneron. Thank you. For reference the qualifications are 3 YOE and a master's in public health.
What’s a “good” AUM per head count for a decent HF? Seems like interviews are way more informal, what kind of questions are asked?
