Op, I lateraled from nyc to a west coast tech firm and my office is the most diverse I’ve ever seen. I’m general corporate and a woc so that was really important to me. Happy to chat!
I am in M&A and would love to work with more women too. I am a 4th year and the most senior women on 90% of my deals… the truth is, the more men concentrated a practice/industry is, the more it is lucrative. And money is the only thing that will fundamentally change the gender power imbalance. Our generation unfortunately has to break the ceiling and get a piece of the money/ power currently possessed by men, so that we can rebalance power dynamics and promote more women. It sucks to almost never work with women and to have absolutely no female inspiration model in my practice group… but makes me feel good to think that the generation that follows us will not have to experience this.

There’s two firms with 23 women just doing cap markets. Even amount of men, but still plenty of exposure to working with women.
