Honestly it’s not the certification that matters. It’s whether you understand the basic concepts behind cloud and your project experience working with cloud technologies.
I agree! These days with all this work visa situation going on. Some recruiters are asking me to get a cloud certification.
I am also not a big believer of these certifications but looks like it helps your application to get through the initial screening process.
I don’t see many clients using GCP from my exp. Mostly AWS and Azure. You can shoot for the beginner exams (azure fundamentals, AWS cloud practitioner) but as EY1 said it’s moreso about practical experience with the platform. Although these exams will give you enough exposure to have a conversation about the tools
GCP has more big logos in Media & Entertainment and more demand there than their other verticals if that's a factor for OP. Not more logos than AWS in any industry.
Their are also plenty of benefits of choosing GCP over AWS. One big benefit is seamless integration with Google's marketing and Ad platforms which is huge for online media companies.
Companies that have already migrated to cloud are beginning to adopt multi-cloud strategies. So while AWS has the largest market share and will for the foreseeable future, there is definitely a growing demand for Azure and GCP.
OP and anyone else considering a cloud certification, should really choose based on their background and interests more than market share imo. For example, Azure has better automated and semi-automated ML services than both AWS and GCP but is weaker in custom modelling than AWS.
I share your preference for GCP( Genuine Analytics Products) but in terms of Market Share, they are still lagging behind AWS ( First mover advantage) and Microsoft Azure ( Deep Enterprise Connections). However most organizations have no problem using multiple cloud providers. So I would say start with GCP professional data engineer then set a goal to clear equivalent certs on Azure and Aws in 6 months. Its what I did, I started with Azure, just cleared GCP and going for AWS next. Im hoping the certifications along with experience ( professional and personal) would at least get me a top interview.
Same question here.

Depends, what services do you need from a cloud provider? They all have slightly different features, pricing plans, and usability.
Great! I will check that out. Thats for the recommendation! 🙂
