I've just recently been hired as an assistant manager at a Canadian outlet store. It's a small company in comparison to others, but there are over 10 locations spanning western Canada and NW united states. I'm curious as to what others in a similar position are getting as salary. I was offered $42k plus bonuses at the interview, but when called back I was offered $44.5k plus bonuses. I already accepted. Did I leave money on the table here?

Looking to move on from current role however bonus/pay review period in 6 months (base jump likely to be around 10%). Is it better to wait to get the bump then negotiate off that for next role or start looking for roles now and accept if can find a jump of 15-20%? (understand that it might be possible to negotiate sign on to compensate for missed bonus). Any generic rule of thumb / insights that have helped ppl? Leaning towards staying until bonus/pay review period at present. Thanks.

I know switching jobs on a closed work permit requires a new work permit. Is it possible to convince employers and get a new work permit while I stay in Canada? As an alternative, I was also thinking of doing a Masters in Canada- is it possible to convert a closed work permit to a student visa?

What would you do? I pretty much was on dependent visas when we moved here with my spouse and when we transitioned to their H1b I could not work but was fortunate to find an employer who sponsored my H1B but had to live away from my spouse in a different state (20hrs away) Now we have our green cards and a new born but feeling bad about leaving my employer because I have only worked here for a little over a year.
