Currently i am working in TCS past 1 year at 13 LPA in data engineering domain with skills like python, sql, GCP , powr bi, ETL. In previous exp I have worked in complete analytics daomain, facing difficulty in adapting the development environment. I am having 2 concerns that am I underpaid for 5+ year of exp and should I switch for better analytics domain

I asked for a raise since I’ve been at my company for 1 year and because cost of living is up 6%. My boss recommended I hold off asking for a raise now and in 6 months he’ll see if I can get a promotion with a bigger raise bump.

He said even if I ask for a COL adjustment now it may make it harder to get the CEO to agree to a promotion in 6 months.

Just got hired as a Junior Software Engineer. I’ve worked super hard to get to where I’m at and really want to keep working hard to reach mid-senior and senior levels as soon as I can. What are some ways that I can fast track my career as a software engineer? What are things that you have done that have really paid off for you? Any advise would be super helpful

CS and SWE is great in that it can be applicable to a great range of fields, to create immensely helpful tools for other things.

What are some areas where SWE intersects with things that help people, country, and the world? Now also add in making a decent living and generally competitive with other SWE “industry”.

Things that come to my mind are government-related, military, some fintech. Sciences have great need of computing, and can have big impact, but income is less clear.

What makes you want to learn yet another programming framework / library / language besides the stack at work?

How can I prepare and present myself for a job in a new tech stack?

I’m a mid level engineer and my team is overwhelmed. There’s more work than we can complete in the timelines that leadership/product has committed to, which is causing leadership to override technical decisions seemingly to meet those deadlines. An example would be routing all live traffic to a feature which was not fully tested, instead of waiting until testing is complete or having that change be dormant and the feature enabled later. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue?

My company is adopting Scrum and hiring a bunch of agile coaches to assist with sprints. We got assigned our agile coach that'll be starting soon.

I read a description of what this role is supposed to be for and it sounds like they'll be leading Scrum ceremonies. So they run the planning meeting, the retrospective and daily stand ups. Up to now, I've been doing those and it's taken a total of like 2 hours a week of my time.
