Brown vs the board of education of Topeka. Now if we could just take property taxes out of the funding equation we could completely fulfill it.

That’s what Michigan did. Now we are funded at the whim of the legislature (who control the purse strings), complete with partisan politics over educational best practices.

NCLB legislation that caused a shift in focus from real teaching, true learning, and the sheer joy of it all to holding teachers so-called “accountable” for stuff over which they have absolutely no control. It started the fallacious practice of evaluating teachers and schools based on student standardized test scores, and it created the time-devouring monster of excessive documentation (of just about any/everything) that ate up our planning time.

1805, Harvard installed a Unitarian in the Divinity school. The ripples of that move changed all of US education. Harvard was key in establishing the Prussian model of education we still follow. Harvard became the harbinger for secular humanism.

That move in 1805 laid the foundations for the 1870s public education laws and then our system was cemented with the progressives who were taking hold in the 20s. Wilson, maybe our worst President, was a professor, remember?

Btw, so many citing Brown should look at what was actually accomplished and how the black educational system and black economies were decimated as a result. There would have been better ways to accomplish the noble and necessary goal of desegregating education. Destroying black schools and putting almost all black teachers out of work was a disgrace, but was forced with ham-handed clumsiness because of Brown.

That’s the lasting legacy of Brown v Board of Ed.

Is that a straw man fallacy, genetic fallacy , and an ad hominem fallacy in the same post? You literally made a hat trick of fallacies. May I request a “No true Irishman” in the next?

Before anyone reports me: please Google those terms to see that I have correctly identified them.

I would say the first sighting of the Sputnik satellite launched by the Soviet Union. It's single-handedly changed school focus to include sciences where it never did before.

For those in SPED, the most recent were Endrew vs. Douglas County (2017) in which the Supreme Court ruled in favor of "Best Practices" instead of de minimus, but stopped short of stating what Best Practices were referring parents back to their school district. Duh, if the school district did their job to begin with, these parents would not have spent 17 yrs desperately seeking education equity for their son. Next, Gary B. vs Govenor of Michigan. 9th Circuit Courts ruled that the 14th Amendment does not guarantee literacy. So, in other words, a school can open the door but they are not required to teach. Gretchen supported these 7 students by increasing the state ed budget and the boys received $280,000 for their future education. Wait for follow-up cases to be filed...with the Supreme Court. Just two recent cases I explored as part of my dissertation.

Don’t feel like I should invest the max in my 401k to be honest as I’m young (26) and plan on retiring no later than 45-50 years old which I would need money in a non retirement account to live off a bit apart from my rental properties (only have 1 for now)

Hi folks,

Infosys consulting HR told me over the call that we are happy to provide you the offer and she will start the process and I should get an offer within a week.

After 10 days, I followed up with her and she is saying that they are working on it.

Now after 8 days again still there is no offer from their side.

Any idea how long I need to wait for the offer ?

How do you gracefully tell a partner that you don’t want to work on a client anymore? Partner doesn’t care for client either since the relationship is through a different practice group. There’s no one else to service the client. Client is very small.
