if you join as a non-technical PM role, are you just kinda stuck as a non-technical PM and limited to joining other companies that also have non-technical PMs afterwards?

Do those roles pay the same as product mgrs with tech skills? I wonder if people would chase those roles if the pay was significantly less than what tech product mgrs get paid

Hi ladies! I am seeking advice as I am torn between between prepping and applying to MBA or FAANG jobs. I currently am at 4.5 YOE, 150K base, engineering manager. My network has advised that an MBA can help pivot careers as I’m exploring content strategy (Netflix). One of my goals is to also work in London. I will add that there is an expectation in my family for higher education and candidly, my longer term goal is a CXO position. Thank you!

Anyone witness slackers who got into companies you have no idea how? Had a coworker who does jack chit at work besides chatting on Facebook yet lands at a faang company? I guess if he brings the same work ethic he will be spit out for sure. Or maybe he just had no interest in doing project work.

AITA? Covid Scenario I live in a higher end high-rise residential. I went to get groceries with my mask on today, I was out of disposal, breathable ones so had a thicker cloth one. It was pretty hot as I was walking home and it was getting difficult to breathe through my mask and I took it off outside. Scanned into my building and into the elevator and one of the staff in the building (maintenance probably?) at the concierge desk says “HEY! Wear a mask next time!” ...continued...

A guy on my practice team had a death in the family and asked for a bereavement week so I said of course, please make sure you notify your project. They do so....they mention "I already asked (me)..." So then the PM emails me, all hot and bothered, wanting to school ME about our PTO policy - that the PM gets to approve leave first and that "project needs come first." Like seriously? You actually think that it's within your authority in this situation to deny the leave? PMs 🙄

My manager likes me to give him a daily morning breakdown of what I’m going to accomplish and at the end of they day a small report of what I accomplished. And throughout the day activities I’m working on and have finished. I’m tired of this, how can I bring this up? Also when client has a particular ask, he responds only to us in the thread and says to complete the task. Then he responds to everyone (client) saying yes absolutely will get it done. He kisses ass non stop. I’m tired of this.

Feeling super discouraged. I’m pretty average IQ wise, but I’ve always been able to get ahead by working harder/longer than others. (e.g. I raised my ACT score for 29 to 35 by taking 30+ practice tests, and got into MBB on my second try by doing 50+ mock interviews.) But now that I’m at MBB I feel like working hard isn’t enough. I feel like to succeed here you have to be lightning fast at picking stuff up and executing tasks, and that’s just not me.
