I’m 30, with no kids, currently paying $540/mo for a whole life insurance policy through my advisor (family friend, mind you) at NWM. No debt, investing 2k a month into other more traditional investments (e.g., 401k, ira). I care less about the death benefit but I’ve been repeatedly reminded about the guaranteed RoR associated with the cash value - does this investment vehicle make sense to continuing with? TIA!
What is the 401k match like at your firm?
My wife is asked to take unpaid time off for an indefinite amount of time vs. being officially furloughed. Is this disadvantageous to her since she can’t get unemployment benefits?
Neither of my parents have a 401k, investments, or savings. They have nothing. I want to help them retire at 65 which would be about 15 years away. I’m looking to put about $15k/ year until then into an account for them. A couple questions i have though: 1. What type of investment account would be best to maximize? 2. Once gifted to them, will they be taxed if they receive a certain amount? I have little to no knowledge in investing so I’m open to any other ideas and/or advice.
So, how is the new Marriott Bonvoy news impacting your loyalty to the program? I am currently Titanium Elite, so I feel as though it would still be worthwhile to maintain such status going forward given the benefits.
Currently mid twenties, and trying to take financing more seriously and would really appreciate some insight on how to allocate my income into savings! Make about roughly 70k a year (post-tax, no pre-tax contributions). I spent about $3,350 a month (~40k a year on rent, car loan, bills etc), so I have about roughly 30k to save annually. Obviously putting 6k into roth ira, and I need help with insight on how to allocate he remaining 24k between Roth 401k, emergency fund, personal saving, etc.
What is the senior principal starting salary range Slalom Consulting if you are coming in with consulting experience? What is their 401k policy? And typical new hire signing bonus? Do they have a negotiation pattern?
Not in IB or ER, but I have to ask (per CFA study), how common is it to run in to troublesome pension accounting issues? It seems like most companies have/are going the way of DC plans and away frm DB
The new KPMG retirement package is called CAP. Capital Accumulation Plan. Pension gone, 401k revamped. % contribution from KPMG based on service credit. Expanded parental and bereavement leave. Anyone have some thoughts on it? FAQ is lengthy and I’m sure I missed something important
Yahoo reports 1.4 million healthcare workers lost their job during COVID19. Are you one of them? How can we help?
Is there any genuine way to reimburse mobile internet reimbursement other than fiber connection...
Hi ladies- can you tell me what you pay in premiums for your healthcare? My employer is saying they’re competitive in the market but I don’t think that’s the case and I’d like to negotiate based on that. Monthly premium for you (and fam if@you have kids?)
Pros and Cons of maxing out 401k contribution? I currently Max out, but have been considering lowering my contribution to get match so I have extra $ to invest in side. Yay? Nay?
What are the actual benefits of marriage?
Any Accenture 🐠 use the domestic partnership benefits for their partner? Apparently you don't have to be married to use it so I want to get my partner benefits but the process is confusing. Anyone...
Retirement question: Currently 23 and will max my 401k ($19,500) but wondering if Roth or traditional is best here? Currently 24% tax bracket, so with a Roth I will be taxed upfront $4680, but if I go traditional I will additionally put $4680 to work in a traditional IRA (essentially either way I will be committing $24,180 to retirement yearly). In this case, would a Roth or traditional be a better choice? I feel more invested early to compound is important, but will taxes be exuberant in 40yrs?
Confused between Deloitte USI and Cognizant YOE: 3.4 Current role: Consultant/Lead BA CTC: 10.85 fixed +1.6 var Deloitte's offer: 14 fixed +10% var + 1.5 JB Role: Healthcare Consultant/BA Cognizant's offer: 18 fixed +1 var Same role Haven't yet talked to Deloitte about counter offer, curious how much will they counter this with. I wanna join Big4, but the difference in package is too much to just ignore. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

My partner, who’s a med-school student (M1), literally walked into our home office, looked at the slides I’ve been working on for the last week, laughed, and goes “really impacting the world with those coloured boxes that haven’t changed since last week” and walked away😓
I have an interview for a position at Slalom coming up for Slalom Emerge and was wondering what I should be expecting. I had a pretty good chat with the recruiter and I'm happily employed as is, but I'm always happy to test the waters. Any insights into the job, interview, negotiations process, working environment, culture, travel, etc.? It would be in the integration area. Thanks!

If I don't get some of my expenses paid back because of big 4 bureaucracy can I just deduct it as an unreimbursed business expense when I do my taxes?
Is it true that H1B approvals are ticking back up this year? Few of my friends were denied last year but approved this cycle.
Do any fish out there have excoriation disorder (chronic skin-picking)? I acquired this really bad habit while WFH and am starting to fear that I will not be able to kick it before going back on-site. My finger tips are always bleeding to some degree or missing skin lol. Might freak the client out. Would appreciate advice if anyone has kicked this habit.
My mom just got laid off today...just got promoted on Friday too...why does this happen😣 all I want to do is fly home and hug my mom

Anyone know of a virtual teleprompter, that can be displayed on one computer but controlled remotely from another computer? Need to record a Zoom call with tele but can’t do screen share.
Now that we’ve been in this wfh situation a couple months, does anyone have tips or tricks for times they are feeling less motivated or productive? I find that I work best while in a team environment or in the office, so there have definitely been days where it’s hard to get into a focused work mode while at home.
Any book recommendations for philosophy, psychology, and business? Or any book you read last year changed your values? Going to fly international, gonna read it on flight. 😍
Grateful for my support system. I burst into tears during a zoom call with a project leader today. He said the sweetest thing anyone ever said to me in years. A quick catch-up turned into a therapy session.
