https://www.levels.fyi/benefits/ You can compare benefits across companies. Generally speaking, Google and Facebook top the benefits list. LinkedIn has some good benefits too — but Google and Facebook have way better yearly RSU policy as a part of the performance process (everyone gets it)

Ok thanks for the clarity.

Uber has some pretty amazing benefits. It’s one of my favorite parts of working here to be honest lol Free Uber credits for rides or eats + discount, monthly wellness benefit you can use on massages, gym memberships, fitness equipment including tech like apple watches, AirPods etc. their medical plan is one of the most affordable I’ve had the pleasure of joining, the offices have cafeterias that look like entire convenience stores (think of a snack .. bet you they have it lol), offices would have 3x a week catering. (The SF office has their own cafe with a chef), work from home stipend to build your station/office station up, monthly cell phone reimbursements .. I’m sure I missed some things but overall, I absolutely love the perks here lol

Compared to Ford, any and all of them. I have friends that are trying to escape from Ford.

Oh wow thanks!

The Facebook office in London had this massive candy dispensary smack dab in the middle. Not the healthiest perk, but man I indulged every time I went to visit my friend!

Haha. That’s nice. I got so pissed at Ford facilities during this last year cause of the food situation. They shut down the cafes and haven’t re opened them. I understand the safety reasons, but I wish they would supplement something- I mentioned “food trucks” but never really put much effort into it cause my boss was pissed at me for doing things outside my scope of work… and they were annoyed at me for complaining so much about the cafes already lol.

LinkedIn has the best benefits package. I don’t think that LinkedIn necessarily has anything unique but it does have everything.

Oh. Wow. Ya ford didn’t do any of that. I got a monitor and a dock. And kicked out of the office lol.

Maybe this is just stating the obvious, but fringe perks like the things you mention are routinely used to cover up bad culture or other negative aspects of a particular employer. I’d suggest finding the right fit for more substantial reasons instead of looking for an employer who has lots of freebies in the office.

Ya they can be

I’m 30, with no kids, currently paying $540/mo for a whole life insurance policy through my advisor (family friend, mind you) at NWM. No debt, investing 2k a month into other more traditional investments (e.g., 401k, ira). I care less about the death benefit but I’ve been repeatedly reminded about the guaranteed RoR associated with the cash value - does this investment vehicle make sense to continuing with? TIA!

Once gifted to them, will they be taxed if they receive a certain amount? I have little to no knowledge in investing so I’m open to any other ideas and/or advice.

Currently mid twenties, and trying to take financing more seriously and would really appreciate some insight on how to allocate my income into savings! Make about roughly 70k a year (post-tax, no pre-tax contributions). I spent about $3,350 a month (~40k a year on rent, car loan, bills etc), so I have about roughly 30k to save annually. Obviously putting 6k into roth ira, and I need help with insight on how to allocate he remaining 24k between Roth 401k, emergency fund, personal saving, etc.

Retirement question: Currently 23 and will max my 401k ($19,500) but wondering if Roth or traditional is best here? Currently 24% tax bracket, so with a Roth I will be taxed upfront $4680, but if I go traditional I will additionally put $4680 to work in a traditional IRA (essentially either way I will be committing $24,180 to retirement yearly). In this case, would a Roth or traditional be a better choice? I feel more invested early to compound is important, but will taxes be exuberant in 40yrs?
