EY- no raises or bonuses unless you got promoted. They said they wouldnât do layoffs and did. Went to unlimited vacay but oh BTW also happens to save the firm $36m doing so. Folks are pretty distrustful of leadership right now.
Actually E3, they did say they wouldnât do lay offs for the foreseeable future, but there would be the ânormalâ performance based separations and in order to afford that, there would be no bonuses. Also, they mentioned that partners would take a pay cut before they think about lay offs. However, they were vague on what performance based separations would entail as I can testify that some of the people that were laid off in my group are some of the most brilliant people I have worked with. The deliver all round.
Yeah, Deloitte has been pulling a lot of BS lately. They did put out a little bonus today, but overall it's been probably one of the most frustrating places I've ever worked.

D, when things were good pre covid and portfolio leadership had more control there were a shit load of promises (even written) that we would be given promotions and raises only to have that superseded by broad brush directives from HR.
High performers were sidelined in promotion discussions in favor of years at the firm. Basically 3 categories of folks for review "must promote" (aka they were here longer) "may promote" (aka "good effort, but you can wait") and then "do not promote". That's how you give a big middle finger to your best people.
Partner level could have taken a 10% revenue cut and been flat compared to last year in order to keep rank and file happy and motivated but they didn't.
I feel like our firm did the same with promotions.. and made the new Bs vacation policy.. stuff is rough these days
