What service line are you in? If tax I would suggest EY’s Private Client Services group. I have worked in business tax compliance for this group for 10+ years and all the businesses I assist I would consider to be medium sized.

I will also add that I’m not sure what level you are, but don’t underestimate what you learn over time from compliance and provisions. If you are truly working with companies that have lots of book/tax adjustments, file in lots of states/countries, are making acquisitions of other entities etc you will definitely learn a lot over time.

I would say a midsize or regional firm

Depends where you’re located. Regional or local firm for sure would prepare you for that path. But do your homework. Not all firms are created equal. If you’re in one of our markets, DM me - we’re always looking for good experienced talent.

Definitely not Grant Thornton tax.

One of the large regional firms

Confession… had an engagement with a married man who was in an “open relationship”. It was explained to me that they each had their own partners. As a sign of trust, I was invited to join a group chat with the wife. She seemed cool and everything was fine until I was asked if I was interested in her. Hindsight - he lied to me and her, letting her believe I was interested in the two of them together. Why are some men such dicks…. I made it clear from the beginning it was just a friend thing.
