Before the naysayers boo me off the stage — Deloitte’s strategy division for government has some incredibly high profile work with Civilian, defense organizations and IGOs. Digital transformation strategy is a huge priority by the strategy & analytics leadership, so there’s a lot of work in that space right now.

like

D2. I recently got hired as a Solution Specialist in the Strategy and Analytics group. My role is technical focus and will be doing mostly technology implementation. They told me they will help me get a security clearance. Any idea if I am allowed to work from home even post covid? Not sure if people with security clearance can work remotely. This is in USDC.

EYP education team is top notch.

Great to know, thanks.

For context, I’m at a place that provides software for state and local agencies and found I really enjoy working on public service use cases. Interested in staying in the space but in a more strategic role so planning to go to bschool and recruit for consulting firms that focus on that type of work but I realize it’s very hard to get a job at McK or BCG so wanted to see what other great options are out there

If you get on the right contract Booz does plenty of very high-profile, directly relevant, mission-focused work. Initiatives directly asked for by 3 and 4 stars and briefing at that level; or developing strategy for a military branch, service department or Joint Staff. I certainly was on just such a contract and it was all of that and more.

Problem is, pay is extremely low and Booz does not care *at all* about how important or impactful your work with the client is. Only thing that matters is writing proposals and bringing in more business. That's partially why I left.

like

Yeah, agreed. From your post, Booz definitely isn't the place for you (unless you want to go the technical route, in which case big tech will pay far more anyway).

BAH and Deloitte are the two big ones. Both have strong fed strat practices...along with gonzo staff aug and implementation practices.

BAH *can* pay higher per level than Deloitte, but pay is way more variable than at Deloitte. You might have two associates, for example, with the same background doing the same work on two separate accounts and one is making $85k while the other is making $145k.

As a former SC at BAH I was always curious what the other SCs on my team were making lol

Audit Partners — Do you see longterm profitability of audit in general? Is it going to be worth being a partner, financially, given the risk you take on, in 10-15 years? With audit bids increasingly being driven way down by competition, & lower level resources demanding (much) higher pay than it was historically, I’m not convinced the partner track is still as enticing as it was pre-Covid. Seems like the job market/higher staff pay alone has GOT to be taking a huge cut into partner pay.

My firm does a firm wide attorney retreat/meeting this summer. I’ll be about 25 weeks pregnant and I have to fly there with my local team/office. I’m very, very nervous about getting COVID while pregnant and I work with people who are generally lax around Covid to begin with. What would you do? Context: pretty much 100% attendance at the meeting. I’m nervous about flying AND the meeting itself.

Roommate and I negotiated a 2-year lease at only 5% rent increase from a covid apartment deal. This place was undervalued last fall too when a wave of people moved to the city. Could have easily fetched +10% but the management office liked us for consistently paying our rent on time. There’s still hope out there for anyone willing to resign for more than 1 year.
