@OP sounds like you have thought of a business you can start yourself.

I totally would but am lacking the work experience and subsequently, the credibility. And by the time I get to a point where I can sell work, I'll be years late to the party

Good luck @OP and sorry about the layoff. I think you'll do great 🙌

Yeah I have realized this is what I am truly passionate about + a lot of these brands are growing. Ex. if I think about places I frequent like Soul Cycle and CorePower Yoga, they're constantly opening up new studios/trying to grow. Same with certain juice chains, activewear, etc. which is really fascinating given their price premiums and a slowing economy. But it doesn't seem like there's really a firm with a practice that intentionally caters to this type of client.

(Part of it probably due to the revenue size of these companies compared to rates at the bigger firms)

That's a really great idea, thanks ACN3! I actually got laid off with the FS layoffs so I have plenty of free time. I live in LA where there are hundreds of small fitness boutiques - guess I'll start with my favorites. 😁

We have a growing Heath practice and a huge Consumer Goods and Retail practice!

JV with me? 😉 Also a passion; Although it is super hot right now, I don't see health/lifestyle as a trend that will quickly end. I have always viewed doing something in that industry as a potential exit opportunity in a few years.

We have a project with FitBit. Don't know how many others.

@OP have you thought of starting with small businesses in your town/city even if you can offer your services as a volunteer on weekends? I mean while also working at your current position. Sort of side business for yourself.

I imagine it'd all be strategy/MBA type work

Makes sense ACN4 - I would guess it's a lot of growth work. But traditional strategy houses charge too much for these companies so I'm wondering if there's a smaller boutique firm that does/can do this type of work

My SO and I plan on settling down, but, I was pretty surprised when he asked if I would sign a prenup. I currently make almost 3 times what he makes. He is in the process of finalizing a social media app that he expects to be very successful, however, its made me a bit uncomfortable that he would suggest this when I have been with him all along when he's had little. Being that I have no filter, I asked him what pray tell, does he think I am after?? What are your views on prenups/postnups?

I’m a 2010 grad working in house. Healthcare industry. I’m fairly well compensated for IHC but don’t love my job.

I am talking to 2 different firms about SC roles. One is a mid AL100, the other is AL200. Both in Midwest. Billable rate would be $400-500/hr. Neither firm has given me any sense of potential comp range yet as discussions are early. I’m trying to get an idea of what might be reasonable before I invest a lot more time continuing to talk with them. Anyone with insight they can share?

Ladies! My boyfriend (33) has a very stressful job and a terrible manager. Work for him is suffering. He is a great and hard worker. I know he deserves much more. He has been with this company since graduation. He could easily make at least 20-30% more if he jumps to a different company. However, he is pretty stuck in the mindset that "its all the same bs" " just 9 to 5 rat race" etc. How do I encourage him to find a new job w/o seem too pushy given he's already burnt out?

Had a call today with a financial advisor who suggested that I invest in a fund that does tax harvesting. She said that it would allow me to sell stocks that have declined in value to offset gains in other stocks so that I wouldn’t have to pay capital gains taxes. I don’t understand why I would want to sell my stocks that have gains though. The whole point is to buy and hold them to accumulate wealth. Does anyone have any insight?

Just had to push back on a C-level exec who tried to reframe a situation to make it look like I messed up instead of her.

She asked if I remembered when “x” happened, so I felt like I had an in to stand up for myself because the situation she presented was absolutely not what transpired, but I still worry if I fucked up. It was us, my boss, and one of her reports on the call.

More than anything it just really opened my eyes to what kind of person I’m dealing with. Ugh.
