✈️ Which flight do I choose: Boston to London - American (777) or British Airways (787). No status, points earning the same, timing is the same. Any difference other than the 787 is newer?

Totally SC1. OP is wayyyyyyy overthinking this. But it’s quite comical lol

Maybe look into which emits more CO2 per passenger?

BA over AA any day, and 787 more quiet and sustainable aircraft

like

The 787’s cabin is pressurized at a lower altitude than other airliners. Could mean you’re more comfortable if you’re sensitive to that type of thing.

like

I have found the BA flight crews on international routes to be friendlier than AA, especially from the east coast to London.

like

I would check the seat layout, in economy the 777 should be 3-4-3 and I think the 787 is 3-3-3, or if you’re flying business class the 787 is 2-2-2, and half the seats are facing backwards and the 777 should be 1-2-1 in business

like

777 are larger and carry more passengers. Seat space is roughly the same. I think the only thing that could impact you directly would be the amount of passengers - do you mind have a little more, or not? Efficiency, fuel, maintenance are things to the airline to worry about

like

777s usually have premium economy (different from economy plus) that’s between first and economy plus/economy

I would say AA, because I personally think that if you have to cancel bc of covid, etc. it’s easier to just take the voucher and use it domestically vs. BA. Since on BA you’ll have to definitely travel through Europe and BA is traditionally more expensive.

like

What metal you fly is also a different question than where you book it Easy enough to book a BA ticket via AA and get the credit back on AA. Thanks, LHR cartel I mean joint venture

like

If J, AA. the 787 on BA still has the old yin yang seats and you have to pay to select ahead of time. AA has all aisle access, and free selection. Food is going to be marginally better on BA, but if you’re taking the sleeper service and from JFK it’s all bed related and AA wins there. Also, FL in T8 has more on offer than the BA galleries in T7.

like

Not J. Back of the bus.

Pop a Xanax before boarding and you won’t be able to tell the difference

like

BA. 1) Better service generally 2) Unlike US carriers they turnoff the seatbelt sign before service stars rather than try and keep everyone glued to their seats until cruising altitude 3) better ambience and atmosphere due to newer plane, bigger windows etc.

like

AA because MERICA FIRST 🇺🇸🇺🇸

funny

Lol… No

I’d heard that British sort of half asses this flight because it’s their shortest long-haul. Not sure if AA is any better but have modest expectations.

I would do BA, also a tiny easier when you land at Heathrow

Flew 787 BA from LHR-DFW last weekend and it was wonderful. Good was surprisingly good. I was also in business

Better air quality in 787 for sure..👍
