FDD. None of those you've listed are finance jobs but FDD is the one you can most easily use as a stepping stone to finance.

Thanks !

FDD > FAAS > Audit for finance exit ops. Now not all finance jobs are equal. If you want to just be a financial analyst at a non name firm with 5 employees, audit could get you there. If you want IB (specifically small and me Ib, because BB is still very difficult) then the order I gave above would give you the best chances. If you’re a BB IB, PE, VC, it’s still very difficult from FDD and FAAS with that caveat that folks in those groups go to BSchool more often and then pivot into those harder to get jobs.

BB or Bulge bracket is used to describe the most “prestigious” banks to work for. There’s 9 of them in total: Goldman, JP Morgan, Bank of America, Barclays, Citi, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, UBS, and Deutsche Bank (even though it gets joked about a lot in meme culture).

Would this be the end of the line for me, with limited mobility because my expertise is too narrow?

Any one make a move from fund admin after big 4 assurance and then was able to make a pivot to a PE fund accounting team? I am considering moving to a fund admin now. Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

I was offered a promotion but due to internal policies the max comp they could offer was way under market value. I countered and was denied. I took time to think about it, being disappointed I applied for other jobs. Monday came and I decided to accept the offer. A week before starting my new position I got a call for one of the jobs I applied for. I am now going through to the last round of interviews the same week I start my new position. Would it be bad practice to accept another offer now?

This is a question which I'm curious about people's thoughts. Mostly reflecting on the past since I'm way too far in audit to make a career change. Did I make a mistake by not trying for law school? I took the LSAT when I was a first year associate and got a 168. At this point, the score expired and would need to retake. I know law is riskier than audit. But a part of me wonders if I'd have been better off (except more student loans) if I went to law school instead of sticking with audit?

I like working on controls/SOX much more than substantive. I thought about switching internally to advisory and doing internal audit but not sure what the best move is.

I don’t see myself ever doing a technical accounting role or any financial accounting roles. Ideally I would like to transition to more business operations type of roles throughout my career. Any advice is appreciated!
