I can’t make any recommendations on the insurance as I have a California-specific HMO (Kaiser).
To your question at the end, are you asking what would happen if you changed your insurance now, got pregnant in December, and your new insurance takes effect in January? Nothing would change. Your insurer covers what they cover for pregnancy regardless of when your coverage starts. The only time pregnancy becomes complex from a calendar perspective is if you had maternity care that spanned two benefit years. For example, if you were hospitalized in August and paid a lot out of pocket, your out of pocket maximum resets in January so you could have more out of pocket expenses. That has nothing to do with changing insurance though, that’s just what can happen for pregnancies that span multiple benefit years

OP please take a deep breath. You are over analyzing a bit. Compare the plans, also determine what insurance your current providers take. These plans can also vary according to state.
