I would be a nervous wreck the whole time if I put mine in a kennel.
Prefer sitter over boarding personally, that way my dog is in a familiar environment at least
Doggie hotels are a good option. They get the right mix of companionship and alone time, and my dog is used to the environment now. He actually gets excited to go these days.

My childhood dog did way better in a kennel but my current dogs have to have a one on one sitter

@OP yes and that dogs are natural pack animals. So having her alone in a cage type enclosure would be traumatic IMO. At least she knows our pet sitter and her dog and has been there before.
Sitter for us, usually a friend who has met the dog before!
I only board if it's cage free and there's daycare during the day.

I've used a pet hotel and I like it because my pup gets to socialize with other dogs and seems to enjoy it
