Hey all - work at a niche Work Comp carrier and we’re about to undergo a massive IT transformation. All new Core Insurance Tech (Policy, Claims, UW Desktop, data model, customer portals, etc.). I lead Ops and am looking for a great PM/Transformation lead, experience with execution in the insurance space. Definitely growth to leading the entire IT function. What issues do you see in our current healthcare system? How do you plan on addressing them? I think after answering those, it might be a little clearer if #1 or #2 makes more sense
is #1 too ambitious? is #2 too boring?
You could argue either way. No 1 is a cooler story but I suspect an adcom who’s ultra-conservative can view it as a problem if they are thinking from a perspective of your ‘employability’. Schools are quite particular about their grads getting jobs after. No 2 is not as cool but is obviously a safer bet. I might be wrong but that’s what I feel.
i guess that’s what i’m asking about #2 - is it a safer bet? i’m worried the adcom might think about whether i really need an MBA to accomplish that goal
You could make #2 your short term post MBA goal, working to one day do #1
one school i’m applying to asks for a plan A and a plan B... so i said plan A was #1 and plan B would be to re-enter consulting with a broader perspective and skillset etc etc... does this sound ok?
