What's good in DC tonight?
New to Fishbowl?

For dc offer to be “par” with Dallas it would need to be closer to $150-160k because of CoL. I’d take Dallas if it’s about the money for you. I currently live in DC and love it but it’s expensive as hell.
AFS hours are very good however and I imagine the upward mobility would be greater too.
If all you want to do is hard skills machine learning/DS I’d take the airline. If you want to eventually get into more of a managerial/SME role I’d consider AFS
All I want to do is technical work and hard skills. I figured AFS would be better for that since it's a MLE position as opposed to DS which is more business focused
Dallas. Role is better and comp is better. Plus think of the benefits of working for an airline ✈️
@Consultant 1 if it’s Southwest, corporate employees are actually allowed to sit in the extra flight attendant jumpseat if the flight is full.
Dallas.. is this a joke?
"F500 Airline in Dallas"

NewCo must be referring to the Target just outside of town lol
Your money will go much further in Dallas
DC
Why?
Data scientist. More money less travel. Shittier city though.
AFS does not travel (depends on project). But I wouldn’t come to AFS.
AFS is federal so it’s not going to be as beneficial long term
This isn’t the case 100% of the time, but commercial work is more challenging/you learn more/you will be better equipped down the road compared to a federal counterpart
Texas has no income taxes. Pretty sure DCs are 10%
Dallas ! No state tax plus higher $$$$
Option C
What excites about where live or want to live (generally)? What do you do in your free time? Are you looking g for a diverse area? Do hike? Where is your interpersonal network? All things I would consider in addition to the price tag
You’ll feel like you have a decent earning job in Dallas. DC not so much.
I thought data scientists would make more
I would take AFS, but depends on your goals and the type of work you want to do. Plus Dallas is hella boring.
Why would you take AFS?
Depends on whether it’s SWA or AA. If SWA, its a no brainer, great work life balance and much higher profit sharing than AA so TC might be slightly higher.
I’ve heard ok things about AA corporate, supposedly getting better. Some departments love it, others hate it.
