Which other schools have delayed opening F2F until September? Do you think a lot will change in that time?

Yes. I believe infection rate in Harris County and surrounding areas will have leveled off, decreased. Faculty will be on campus learning new online learning platforms, and implement new strategies. It will give more time to put safety measures in place. Moreover, parents will be forced to find alternatives to school as child care facility . We will not be available to keep their children 5 days per week this year or next year. Public school as we know it has changed significantly.

Princeton High in Mercer County, WV delayed until Sept 8 for student return.

I would give the student a low score, because you are not to hold a student on the same grade and you want to have a piece of mind. Do not confront the parents, sometimes they are worse than the students.

We are on distance learning until at least Labor Day

Albuquerque Public Schools delayed FTF until after 9/7. Elementary kids go back first, then at some unspecified future date mid schoolers go back then after that high schoolers. No defined expectations as to why decisions will be made or how.

The county I live in is going all online to start in September. I am frustrated because the Paras in the district have no idea what we will be doing. This should be interesting.

Just found out last night when school board voted to start 9/8. Parents choice of f2f, virtual

That is scary they are offering f2f in Texas!!! What are these school boards thinking? I fear that the reopening of schools has become politicized due to Trump and DeVos threatening funding if schools don't reopen in full.

My county in Western NC has decided to go primarily remote starting August 17th. They are hoping to start partial in-person instruction Sept. 21st. They are allowing Pre-K, students with IEP's, and students who were academically behind BEFORE COVID-19 to receive small group instruction in person. We have not yet received any details about how anything will work.

Currently I'm a SA working in advisory, but I'm hoping to transfer to more of a traditional consulting role. I am hoping not to switch companies, but when should I start looking else where, before I become pigeon holed in my current service line?

Anyone been brave enough to ask why a position was open? And if so did that effect the rest of the interview or their decision?

I recently accepted a position in the ICU, but the interviewer described that they're "like a family" (yikes) and how they have travel nurses renew their contract for a year cause it's a great unit to work. But like, if it's so great then why did someone leave...? Lol. Still excited about the job but that did sit on my mind for awhile

Hey guys, I’m currently interviewing for a new position as my current contract is coming to an end in a few weeks. I’ve had a technical interview as well as a follow up interview with the Managerial rep for Daugherty… Aced both *As confirmed by my recruiter* however, they’ve requested I make myself available for a 3rd interview. How good are your districts at negotiating contracts on time? Ours expire every two years. At the end of the second year we always end up going into the next school year on an expired contract and work almost the entire school year on that expired contract. It’s not that we are asking for the moon, usually our raise is about the same as the rising price of healthcare, so it ends up being a wash. The workload only increases. The district also made us put in a “no strike” clause in our contract.

Time to vent... So far this year, 14 staff members have resigned from my district (myself included). I'm in a small, rural, K-12 district so there aren't many of us to begin with. In my 5 years here there have been 4 principals and another new one coming next year. Our board "doesn't know how to keep people here" yet they refuse to pay more when the pay is significantly higher in every district around us (also small districts.) It's a never ending cycle and I feel terrible for the kids.

We are a small school. About 100 students per grade level from K-12. Our 8th grade team has seven kids that failed all four core classes all year long. There are another 6 or 7 that failed 2 or 3 core classes all year. Research says that retention doesn’t help after third grade. BUT! How can we move students to high school math or English with an entire year missing? Science? Social Studies? Not as important, but Math and ELA? Pivotal in their growth. What is the “right” answer? Opinions?
