Which size Away luggage is the best for carry on travel for work? Is the ‘bigger carry on’ over regulation size?

I have the bigger carry on and it works for every plane that the smaller one would work for (domestic US). On some of the super small regional jets, you’d have to gate check either one

I got the regular carry on - not the bigger one, because I fly regional jets (CRJ 700/900) every week. Once was the only person on board who had a roller bag (CRJ 200). Do not regret getting the smaller size. Have never gate checked in the 2.5 years I’ve had it with weekly travel.

I got a small suitcase that's designed to fit under the seat in front from Costco. Great for 3-4 day travel and never had to gate check, even on small regional jets.

I have bigger carry on and agree with A1 - zero problem except tiny jets where every roller is gate checked. I’d rather take that inconvenience the 1-2 times it happens a year than lose on the seriously value-add extra space.

I was only pointing out your statement of “except tiny jets where every roller is gate checked,” isn’t true, to give OP perspective - wasn’t trying to argue you personally

I’ve used the bigger carry on on planes of all sizes, including regional airlines in other countries. Never had a problem, and I love it!

My brother is getting married and his fiancé told me I’m in the wedding party. She also invited me to her bachelorette party which I don’t really want to attend. We’ve only spent time together during a handful of family weekends over the years (I am not close with my brother either). Do I have to go or can I make an excuse?

Instead of buying a second home right now, I’m thinking of renting a small place in another city in a cool, urban development. Instead of peace and quiet, it would be fun to have more access to restaurants and city activities before buying a country retirement home where the grandkids can come and spread out. Has anyone done this? It sounds like fun, though throwing money away on rent vs building equity makes me a little uncomfortable.
