Honestly, find a service line you like and which motivates you to be the best you can be at that topic. Opportunities will follow. You wont last long if you don’t enjoy the work you do.

All tech companies start with core federal tax people who are great at provisions and compliance. Then as they grow, other areas may get hired, multistate, international, transfer pricing, VAT, customs, depending on the needs of the business.

If you want big tech, anything above works. If you want startup, go federal team.

Maybe R&D tax credit group? Or transfer pricing?

Don’t go into tax, unless you want to stay in tax forever. I’m struggling to get out

100% would recommend if you’re not sure you want to stay in tax forever. Easier to branch out off audit compared to tax

I moved to Canada from India 2.5 years ago for my PG in IT BA. I have a bachelors in IT and I worked as a developer for 5 years back home. After my PG, I spent 8 months looking for a job, my current company interviewed me for Technical project manager, but they offered me the role of a PC. I accepted it without negotiating as I did not want to lose the opportunity, I am extremely underpaid and I have been doing the job of 3 people, as my company keeps firing folks. I’ve lost all my confidence.

Got a fat cat who has a timed/measured feeder. Still gaining weight. We were all stumped. Turns out my cattle dog shares her food with the cat every morning. Someone recommended a water spritz to get him away from the food. I basically soaked him for a few minutes while he stared at me and continued eating. Looks like I'll have to lock him up while the dogs eat from now on.

Partners or whomever can help me understand about billing and hours. To keep things simple, let’s say you only have one staff to work 1,700 billable hours a year on a $60k salary and you have only one job that and the rate charged to the client is $300/hour and an projected hours budget of 1,700 hours. So ideally you would have revenue of $510k. If the staff takes less time partners make less money and if they take more time partners make more money while the staff keeps the same salary?
