Yeah, title makes little difference - agree with VP1. Position your resume, LI, etc. in line with your goals and you may find yourself a Director/Sr Director role under a VP/SVP comms, where you get to do more strategic work without the responsibility of head of comms/budgets, staffing, etc.

Goals is a good one - I didn’t think about focusing on that as much and I do want to take on a more strategic role. Thank you!

Titles are becoming increasingly different agency to agency, agency vs in-house, etc. I’d focus more on fleshing out your skills/experience that align with what you’re after vs. the title itself.

Yes, you’re right - each industry (and business) has its own hierarchy and they don’t always translate in a linear fashion. Will focus more on my skillset and achievements then!

So back in July I went out for a new position at my small company that was rapidly expanding (Account Manager). Was notified that I didn't get the full promotion but was told instead that I was still moving up and was going to be Customer Service/Account Manager Support. The new Account Manager had no customer service experience within our niche industry. I instead had to help help him with all customer service issues. I feel like I am being taken advantage of. Then when I reached hiring manager through LinkedIn I got to know I cleared all the rounds but my expected cts is high so they might have rejected. First thing is I never said what I am expecting . And I clearly told In managerial round that I am open for salary discussion. But no one responded. Will I get the call back in time? Or I just leave it and go ahead with other companies?

Not really sure what board is proper for this. But has anyone had an experience where your boss required paperwork for a raise? I started my job as an account manager at a less than reasonable salary, but I was under the impression that I would be able to grow and would have help. A lot of work is dumped on me at one time and all the responsibility falls to me, it's often way to much work for one person. I tried to negotiate a raise with my boss and lead with the fact that I was moving to the area and the salary was not conducive to rent here. He cut me off after my first point and said he'd figure it out. I never got to tell him about my workload. Long story short he required a lease agreement for me to get this raise. It took quite a while to get one... had a few places fall through. My landlord is in the middle of moving so was only able to forward me a PDF of the document that was unsigned, until she has time to meet. Now my boss wants a signed lease with all my roommates signatures too. This is not part of the contract I signed that simply says "provide a lease agreement"... tips?
