I have been working in customer service for 5 years and I mainly take into account what your needs are, what you need to solve, in order to provide you with a solution either with a product or a service.
I think it is important to avoid extremely formal tones unless the brand identity requires it. It is important that customers feel cared for and understood by a person who really cares about solving their pains.
Any tone that doesn't give away how much I don't enjoy my job usually works well enough LOL
I just try to keep it as neutral and cool as possible. I think it's important for some customers that I appear confident that I know what I'm doing
Can't go wrong with being polite and keeping it formal
The opposite tone of what I would like to use! ha. I try not to go over-the-top fake and bubbly, but I still keep it fairly upbeat.
