For under 20k in this market the best you can do is a used 2013 Altima from carmax with 200k miles on it and a recalled cvt transmission
Miata. It’s fast relative to walking.
None?
Master list; most are pretty reliable compared to a lot of the trash being produced today:
G35/37, 350/370, si, TSX (1st or 2nd gen), s2k, JCW or mini s (neither super reliable), always Miata (hard top adds to the exterior greatly), n54/55 335, c4/5 vet (early c6s are just starting to hit ~25k), genesis coupe, wrangler (depending on your definition of fun to drive), early 2000s boxster, gti, mr2
Love the addition — super solid budget e46m
I have a 9th gen civic si. Think it hits all these categories. Plus Honda manuals are the goat

Pretty much all cars these days are relatively fast, though many aren't all that quick.
I'm specifically not naming years, but these are all out there for various years that meet your guidelines: Miata, Genesis coupe, GTI, Golf R, Focus ST, and G35/37.
There are more options out there, but those are the ones that *shouldn't* break the bank when it comes to maintenance.
S2000 with probably 100k miles
Like old 3 Series BMWs and Audis maybe
Since the other comments seem to have nailed most of them I’d just like to add on the Toyobaru twins from Toyota/Subaru. So the Scion FRS, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86.
Come in 3 pedals, torque dip on first gen models can leave you wanting more, but plenty of aftermarket support and fairly easy to work on too (if you’d like).
