This is very much about (1) what you need for your next chapter and (2) who your boss will be. If you need some structure in your work, if you like having resources (like data or comms planning) then maybe go with the network. The indie role will give you more responsibility, but fewer resources and less structure. You will probably work across more clients in the indie. Do look to how much the companies value strategy, and who your boss and head of department are. That is the real deal breaker.

Thank you for this great advice! Both seem similar in valuing our craft (sans resources). I suppose there’s no such thing as a perfect role. Appreciate the help

Indie here. Personally can't stand the dinosaur shops.

Me neither. Feel like my ego says I should but my soul hates them too

Imagine making good money and being able to live and work wherever you want. Don't get bogged down with a lease. You have an opportunity to live the dream right now.

What is this LDN agency? Sounds fabulous.

They’re huge and very famous actually. But why are you obsessed with that? What do you want from the job - to improve your skills in strategy or have a top name on your resume? You won’t learn much strategy at moving brands. It’s a design agency. Trends and trainers. You will learn proper strategy at a place that’s known for its strategic effectiveness and if it has good, well known senior people. Go to MB if you want to hang out with cool kids and use jargon and make nice decks. Go to your other agency if you want to learn.

Hands down I would choose the London shop.

like

I would always choose the independent agency, but that depends on your personality. Really ask yourself if you feel more comfortable in a large corporate environment, or if you tend to like the nimble environment of a smaller shop. Certain things like benefits will probably be better at the global agency, but it’s usually a trade off in work-life balance and definitely a completely different vibe. Soul search a bit (then pick the indie) 😊

Thank you Cyndy- funny you say that. My soul says indie, ego says big agency. I think the soul knows better!

Appreciate this may’ve been asked previously; but the WFH desk chair market is a minefield. Upgrading my existing Amazon £75er. Any top recommendations from people? Poised to buy an Autonomous ErgoChair Pro (you get what you pay for..) but not sure if there’s competitive quality for less than the £450 they ask for. Thanks!

Hi all, I would appreciate your thoughts - I’ve been really struggling to adjust to long-term WFH and just have been extremely unhappy with it (feelings of isolation, burnout, hopelessness). I realize I’m not spending time on commute and such, not wearing uncomfortable clothes, but I’m still really miserable. I feel like most of my daily joy used to come from live interaction with people. I know many of y’all are really thriving on WFH and need your help / thoughts on how best to adjust. TIA!!

For anyone missing a whiteboard while WFH: I picked up a big dry erase mat from Staples that I mounted on a wall. It doesn’t clean off as easily as an actual whiteboard but it does the job. They also make whiteboard paint you can put on your wall. The best one is made by a company called “remarkable” but it isn’t cheap.
