Which would you chose?
1. ID firm
2. Small regional firm with private clients and low billable, but not very known
3. An in-house management role that you have the ability to move around to a counsel role, if necessary.
Money is essentially the same.

Depends what your career goals are. But if I had to choose, the small regional firm.

2 or 3. 1 shouldn’t even be in your calculus. I’d rather manage a McDonald’s than do ID—better hours, more free food perks, and probably about the same pay.

like

2. Why would anyone want to work in ID? In house if that’s the career path you want

like

What are your goals? In a vacuum I lean #2, seems like it would be the best opportunity to lateral to a bigger more well known firm (depending on practice area) if that’s what you’re looking for.

like

Same

I’d say 2 because I can quickly rule out ID, but without knowing your class year it’s not clear whether you’d be premature for an in house role or if it would be the right move for your career right now.

like

I would be premature based on the 5-8 years.

Right, it depends. For me, I’ve always wanted to go in-house.

3. From what I read on this app, ID is awful.

like

I think it depends on where you are in life and what your needs are. For instance, ID firms typically have high billable requirements (in my experience). Make sure to factor billable requirements in as they can determine your bonus for the year, as well as how much free time you have. Small firms with low billables are preferable to me so that I can maintain a work life balance.

like

So much hate for ID on here. There are places with WLB, you get lots of in-court experience very early, short partnership track, adjusters already know how it works so you don’t have to hand-hold/educate. You won’t be highest paid around, but can be very comfortable. I don’t work weekends unless on trial. Get a good read on the specific firm before you rule it out.

Most of us are chasing something in life.
Money, satisfaction, stability, Love, Peace, Happiness, Contentment

Effort must be required to get all this, but why effort comes with some sort of feeling of frustration always.

Instead of chasing, what can be done to naturally get these 😅 ?
