The 25 year olds worried about only having $500,000 net worth may be that way because they grew up in financially unstable millennial households.
The 25 year olds will have the wisdom gained from economic challenges of their parents and the financial means to do something about their concerns for the economy, environment, etc. Basically, right the ship.
Nobody is going to hire an out of work boomer into a high paying position. I have many friends who were highly paid but were laid off in their mid 50s. Some have searched for other work and have had to take massive pay cuts while others just decided to retire early. Though it is never prosecuted as it is hard to prove, there is definitely age discrimination in employment. Once people make it to a high pay grade, employers are more likely to use any excuse to lay them off. A quick google search will tell you that in addition to the layoffs, many more boomers are deciding to retire early due to the pandemic changing their outlook on life.
There’s another really good article on the same subject from Highline by the Huffington post, it features some of the most creative interactive features I have seen in an article, highly recommend it
IDK. I am a millennial and benefited majorly from the 2008 economic downturn and don’t see many 30 year olds struggling to find jobs currently, but likely based. I feel like gen z should have started at 1990/91. I’m much closer to gen z than my millennial sister born in 1982.
Doesn’t seem to be true for the 25 year olds on here who are anxious about only having a $500k net worth lol
