He's very surprised. Maybe if he asked people what they want—to do good work and celebrate good work—instead of assuming what people want—to be 'better connected'—he might've been less surprised.

Shocking that someone at the top of a holding company has no idea what the goals of the people beneath him actually are. Seems like all he accomplished was proving how bad holding company's can be

like

He's just pissed he didn't think to buy the Ferris wheel first 😂

like

Let's be honest, the goal isn't to connect 80,000 employees. The goal is to increase revenue while cutting the org to 40,000. And get everyone on the same rate (in India).

You obviously don't work on a global role. I used to only work on US and found out there's a whole wide world out there full of interesting opportunities. There are people who want this. Publicis has talent all over and we always have new international folks joining our team. It's been really difficult to think about what other projects I want to be on when we dont have a source with all the listings. This is how consulting companies structure their business and its obviously working for them.

I work on a major global account in the groupe and think Marcel is a fucking joke. I think publicis is a joke and I wish we could break from the French rule.

like

A leader shouldnt be "surprised" by internal backlash. It shows that you're either oblivious to the priorities of the group you're always touting as your most important asset, or you just don't care. Too bad he couldn't ask Marcel first if his employees would support this move.

Associate Director, how much kool aid have you had today?

What is Fluid Talent about if not to connect talent to work that is mutually beneficial to agency and employee? That's my biggest issue with this whole thing. And how are the "talent" identified? Do they do it themselves? Are they nominated? And - frankly - are they just Creative?

Maybe it's all part of his plan. He doesn't want the disingenuous creatives who work for the awards. There's always another person willing to do the work cheaper or better. What's one's loss is another's gain. If the plan works, everyone is forced to adapt or find a new industry. He wont be sorry about it.

Please explain your awards hate.

like

Why should awards cost the company money? And how do awards drive business at the company. As someone else pointed out, there's been a lot of Publicis awards but little new biz gains. A lot of lost biz though.

like

If they cut the workforce, I see it as a positive. If all this fuss is over awards, hope this is a push for everyone to get out and work in a real creative driven industry. Go make an Oscar worthy movie. Leave the business to people who care about the business.

Sadoun said he was "very surprised" about the backlash "for the simple reason that I think what we are doing with launching Marcel is really a game changer in the industry." The tool is aimed at better connecting the holding company's 80,000 employees across 200 disciplines in 130 countries so they can identify project opportunities they want to work on in different markets and anticipate clients' needs with its predictive behaviors.

Global when necessary, actually, but I get what you're saying in regards to giving international folks more opportunities since us Americans hog up all the fun.

@AD 1 I don't think the world network of talent part is bad... in fact if it gave me the chance to work on more and newer clients I'm all for it. But the timing and the award show announcement feel incredibly tone deaf to the average creative.

What does that even mean, being on the front lines? Does he think he shouldve put up the Gerri's wheel instead? What a dipshit

Has anyone else dealt with this situation? My company has no CLO or GC. However, my company runs all in house legal opinions through its CCO, a non attorney. The CCO and I have had disagreements on points of law on several occasions, but regulatory actions have backed up my opinions. Regardless, the company values the layman's point of view more than mine. I do not feel appreciated by this company in my current role.
