Hello everyone! I am a recent marketing honors graduate and have just finished an internship with Apple. I have also been with the company for 7 years in retail.

My host during my experience suggested that I look at new companies for entry level positions to grow my skills and continue my passion in marketing research. I would enjoy connecting to learn more about career paths and entry level marketing positions I should start looking into or any additional certifications I should get?

Hey! So.. I got promoted yesterday! My first promotion :)
I am happy about it. I have put in a LOT of work in the last couple of months, but at the expense of my physical and mental health.
Right now, I’m happy that my efforts (sacrifices?) paid off/got acknowledged. But at the back of my mind, I have this feeling that this is just the kind of sacrifice-reward system that’s unhealthy in the long run. I have had legit panic attacks in the last few months- (continued in comments)

First generation immigrant looking for advice. I’m 28, trying to increase my net worth and become more fiscally responsible.

1. I’m making contributions to my 401k, maxed out my Roth IRA and HSA but am struggling with what my portfolio should look like - I don’t have anyone to guide or point me in the right direction and would appreciate some guidance on this.

Years after taking and passing the NY bar, I’m sitting for the FL bar exam in Feb. Doing BarBri again (which, annoyingly, I have to pay for), but I also need to take MPRE again as I took it a long time ago. What prep courses are people taking these days? I know it’s a security blanket, but I want to do it to make myself feel better, so I wanted to know which courses for MPRE people are taking these days.

I've been using the free version of Casetext for a few years. It's fast, basic, and I like it. Unfortunately, they have gone subscription only. The firm has (and I dislike) Westlaw. Any good alternatives to Casetext that provide for lightweight, fast case resources?

When a partner you haven't yet worked with sends you an email that just says "available?" in the subject line and no message in the body, how do you respond if you're busy on a deadline and not sure whether they have a normal project or need a fire drill you can't deliver? (Partners, please don't do this to us) 😱

Do I go back to my old firm? 3rd year lit. Been at new firm since start of the year, $130k. Left old firm on good terms, only left because I moved 4 hours to new firm to be with boyfriend (we’re no longer together). I told friends at old firm I wasn’t happy in new city and new firm is much more demanding (1900+ vs. 1750) and several partners are becoming intolerable. Gossip at old firm led to managing partner calling me to offer $110k to return and do the exact work I want to do. Worth it?

Have I limited my options by clerking for five years at the state level? (2 yrs for criminal judge, 2 yrs as staff attorney for a different trial court, 1 yr clerking at appeals court) I’m starting to look for a civil litigation position for next year. I have an open mind on the practice area.

I’m a third year, and am told I do a good job. Backing that up, I’ve gotten a lot of “good” opportunities early on to take/defend depositions, be the client contact, handle drafting dispositive motions + hearings (even hearings completely on my own for the motion/response I drafted).

People in my office will say these things are fun, that I must be enjoying it. But I don’t enjoy it and I want to puke most of the time.

Does anyone do welcome gifts at the beginning of client engagements and/or goodbye/congratulation gifts when a matter concludes? If so, what do you give away?

I'm wondering if this is accepted practice. My firm has a computer monitoring system that takes pictures of what you're working on every 5 seconds. The firm's HR/office manager then uses this to determine if you're working while you're in the office. Ex) I have outlook opened on my computer, but I'm inactive on my computer b/c I'm reading a paper file. This individual will walk into my office to see why I'm not 'working'. Getting pretty fed up.
