I am doing expenses too! High five ✋
Me too... we are all Deloitted
Yup 40$ a day For me. Tops is like ~55 in NYC. We live off scraps.
I do groceries on my first night in town. Salads, pastas and anything I bring from home for meals. Pocket at least $30/day
@OP:
Per diem: company gives you $X per day. What you don't spend, you keep (conversely, if you spend more than that it's out of your own pocket)
Actuals: you spend whatever and submit them as expenses which the company reimburses
@A2 depends on the project. My current one has a non-billable code we're supposed to bill alcohol to, but none of my past projects have cared
No need at ACN. Can't eat shit on our measly per diem.
^ wut? You have per diem?! What's going on with this world.
Do you actually use all of your per diem? I honestly pocket most of mine
^a2: how do you pocket it?
A2- if I want to live off mcd's but I don't.
@OP we are given a set amount per day. Up to you how much you spend. If you like fancy meals per diem is not for you.
Seeing as I spend $25-30/day on just groceries over the weekend (I cook every meal at home), I don't think I'd like per diems very much even though theoretically I could come out ahead...
@DD1- agreed. I've been on both sides. If you push yourself to be frugal you can make a few dollars but it is usually at the expense of your health ( cheap food). Actuals you can eat much healthier or also over eat so it's a catch 22.
It may just be because I find eating to be a chore anyway. I get residence inn's so I can actually cook at least once, but most of the time, the fastest path to nutrients is how I'm thinking.
@A2: yeah, I'm definitely a "live to eat" rather than an "eat to live" person
I still didn't get how exactly are people pocketing per diem money. Never heard of it.
Ok. Thanks. I get it.
Can't afford room service on per diem or really even to eat at the hotel restaurant if you drink. That wouldn't work for me.
So with actuals, you can expense alcohol? Weird
