The only days I don’t feel appreciated is when I work 12 plus hours, come home and the first thing my wife wants to do is complain and tell me all the things I’ve done wrong. Or when she thinks I can leave work early (when things are due eod) to help her give our kid a bath

like

My favorite is working a hard day, battling an hour of traffic, then walking in to, “Oh good, you’re home, you can take over, I’m getting in bed and watching my show.” Like, do you think I was on the golf course all day?

like

Y'all idiots. Once you have kids it's not about you anymore. They are your investment. Think about it. Do you want to end up in a resthome or that extra bedroom at you kids home. We work our asses off so they have it better than us. Plus I cant wait to get my kids back for all those poopy diapers 😏

likefunny

Felt under appreciated for years when I was married, but now that I barely see my kids, lost my home, live in a bachelor condo and give most of my earnings away...feel even less appreciated

like

Ya there are quite a few days like this. But there are a lot a days I don’t appreciate being able to escape to work while they struggle at home. Every weekend I take the kids so she can have a couple days with friends or she has a business trip I remember how hard it is at home with them

I hear you. Going to the office is easier than staying at home with young kids. But wow, it all gets so expensive!

like

For sure raising kids is expensive... we didn't have half the things when I was growing up.

Could also reapply this fall and add Tuck and Kellogg to the mix but unsure if it’s worth the risk as this fall may be very competitive.

No idea about team/culture/stability differences yet.

The non-work factors I'm debating are:
1. Cost-of-living (housing!). Could probably afford a nice ~$1.25M SFH in Seattle suburbs sooner than a fair $1.5-2M near Cupertino.
2. Public School quality. Unsure private will be affordable.
3. Weather/region: activities

Does anyone have advice/ experience with disclosing or advocating for your ADHD support needs in highly toxic environments? Or getting formal disability accommodations?

I’m on a VERY toxic project where I really need accommodations but I am scared there will be repercussions if I personally disclose my ADHD like I have on past projects.

I submitted an HR request for accommodations and it’s been ignored for over a week.

I really can’t take another week of spending every day crying.
