It depends

Probably plaintiff because less determined by billables I’m assuming?

I’m a plaintiffs’ PI attorney at a small but successful firm. We have it pretty good. Most days I’m out by 6pm. Occasional weekend work, depending on what’s going on. Obviously, if a trial is coming up, those hours will change, but overall it’s not bad. With the nature of the practice, though, there isn’t a lot of opportunity to work remotely. Only time I do is on the weekend or when I’m sick.

For context: first year salary of $75k plus bonus, 401k profit sharing, and full health insurance premiums. In MA/RI.

Plaintiff. Definitely plaintiff.

I’m in insurance defense and definitely feeling the truth in this. How does one switch to plaintiff work?

I’m at a plaintiffs firm and will say it’s not always better. End up working a lot of long nights and many weekends. Kind of wish there were billables to keep an account of my hours!

Friend got notice from daycare to submit their son’s 12 months vaccination proof (he is 16 months now) and that’s when he realized that they had missed giving the vaccines. These are also critical ones like Measles, Rubella, Chickenpox. I was so annoyed when they told us this - of course, didn’t tell them that but our kids do have play dates (mine is slightly older).
And I’m thinking about cutting these play dates off.
Am I being too judgemental in this case?

I’ve only been with my company for a couple months but it looks like my title will change soon (title bump) and there should be some pretty cool added responsibilities. Should I bring up compensation or anything like that? I feel like I’ll be doing more work aligned to the direction I want to take my career but I also don’t want to look greedy since I haven’t been there for long. I have around 2 years of experience if that helps paint the picture. Also if yes, how do I bring it up?

Has anyone used a 529 savings plan to repay student loans?

After researching this extensively it seems that I can set up my own plan and make myself a beneficiary to take advantage of the $10,000 lifetime limit.

Has anyone done this or have any knowledge of the tax consequences?

P.s. I live in Florida and would love to know about any other interesting savings devices for repayment. I have student loans in the six figures that I'm starting to repay in December 😬.
