Forgive me if I'm making an inaccurate assumption, but if you haven't figured out a good answer to this question, I'm thinking you're new to the business. The truth is that you can say almost anything but you need to have confidence in yourself and an answer that you believe in. You will eventually settle on something that works for you, but you may also want to answer it in a way that relates to the person you are speaking with. I'll tell younger people that I help clients plan for their future. I tell pre-retirees that I make sure my clients are on track for retirement. I tell business owners that I'll help them maximize the revenue that they generate both for themselves and for the business. If I want to engage a prospect in a further discussion I'll say that I build comprehensive financial plans for my clients. Usually they ask what I mean by comprehensive and I'm able to transition into a deeper discussion. Another guy in our firm calls on blue collar sole proprietors (plumbers, electricians, truck drivers etc) and tells them that he helps people save money and pay less in taxes. It sounds cringe worthy to me but he brings in lots of clients. Anyway, pick one that resonates with you and practice it enough so that you're confident when you chat up prospects. Good luck!
We help people realize their hopes and dreams by implementing a smart, sound and strategic financial gameplan.

I've been with NM 7 years but was just curious what other folks say. Thanks for your insights; it was helpful!
