Who has or currently works for claims at State Farm. Worth it or will I hate my life?

I worked is Auto Claims there, I do the same position at another company for higher pay. Let’s just say they turned more into a call center job, which is why I left customer service for insurance position. I would also do fire claims as well which is for home insurance, but it became too stressful because during busy times calls are back to back. And you can’t really take a break in between calls because you’re expected to still be working in a different status while you’re on the phone. They also track the movement of your mouse and the computer so if you leave your dust they know when. To be honest I Felt like a hamster in a cage where everyone was staring at me, when they went to work from home it allowed me less stress. But there is still great opportunity within the company if you’re willing to look past that, to grow and get into higher positions in the benefits were great there as well, also what the yearly salary evaluation.

I worked with them for more than 10yrs. Most of it in fire claims. They have great benefits but definitely hectic schedule just like any claims department. What I do not like is that it turned into a call center environment instead of stewardship. Competition for promotion is tough because there’s a lot of talent. If you work in Catastrophic team then expect to be very busy during storm season but if you work in non-cat department, you’ll have a decent work and life balance.

I do not recommend claims at all. I worked auto claims for 5 years.

FACTS

Claims is a very stressful and fast paced world. Everyone thinks they need more money for their claims. You need to have thick skin and not take the insults as an attack against you.

What do you think are the pros and cons of working at a large insurance company vs. a small one? Considering a jump from big (been with a few carriers for ~15 years) to much smaller but growing.

I work in Group Insurance if that makes a difference.

Random Tangent: After year end results were delivered, staff received meager 3.8% adjustments, which is far from the news reports of 7.9% USA inflation.
