Strategists. All levels.
Here we go…

ACDs (and CDs under in-the-weeds ECDs) have the most thankless job in the biz. No real say over the final product, no real control over its creation.
So they can really only sand off edges so things are less objectionable. Or plus them up incrementally. Then, they have to gently advocate for themselves and the value they added to their bosses while trying to retain a teams’ respect, which is tough if they have no real power. And yes, they’re still learning to take accountability and give credit.
If an ACD is insecure, it usually has something to do with their boss. (And often, and I know you don’t want to hear this, the team.)

Creatives working on obsolete formats like TV ads.
Remember in Mad Men when they let Harry Crane run television because nobody thought it would become more important than print and radio ads? That was the situation with digital a decade ago. Now it's 10 years later and you STILL have all these traditional creatives doing their best to ignore reality because they either can't or don't want to have to change along with their industry.
People might not care about good ux, but they will hate bad ux enough to change banks, wireless providers, restaurants, you name it. So I'd argue that's why xd is table stakes. People saying it has to be memorable are missing the point.

Definitely strategy directors. They want to feel creative, but have trouble handling when creatives tell them their strategy isn’t good.
This nails it.
Creatives are as guilty as anyone for being precious or fragile. But we take criticism, however constructive, everyday and then act on it. Strategists on the other hand seem to take it personally when we even slightly question the brief or the insight, and are very reluctant to change anything about it as in their mind they’ve already ‘nailed it’ before anyone’s seen it. But they are more than happy to act as a CD when ideas are being presented. They’re also very keen to accept praise for work even though it was a success in spite of the brief. In my experience, the adage of ‘Strategists are just failed creatives’, applies to the majority of strategists I’ve worked with.
Shots fired
The only correct answer here is strategists. They spend 8 weeks looking at data to write a brief and throw a fit if you ask them to speed things up.

The CDs who call tv commercials “films”.
S1 this is not meant to be a snarky comment. I’m not a therapist but this comes off as someone who wishes they followed their creative aspirations to be a film maker, did not, and now projects that regret on people that work every day on that craft. I hope you find what you are looking for. We all reflect our own reality off other people.
Account people who failed as creatives.
UX. God forbid anything not best practice is attempted.
Ugh. My UX Researcher does this to me on the regular.

This is the right answer. Particularly marketing people. They are fragile, cruel and out of their depth all at the same time. It’s a joy to behold.
People whose parents didn’t love them enough, in every dept.
Just wanna come in hot here with the exact OPPOSITE of our ego-driven bosses which are my most humble and treasured Project Managers making real life possible amongst all you maniacs ❤️
I love myself totally agree.
JK, but I do love my creatives so very much

Why bring race into this lighthearted discussion? Lame.

In general, strategists. Also I’d say art directors (or really art creatives at any level) are pretty precious about their work.

Precious about the work doesn’t mean fragile ego.
But in my experience cws are usually more that way than art director. We are used to take a beat since day one. Everyone seems to know a little bit of art direction, everyone has a nephew that knows photoshop. We make things knowing that will get changed for sure.
Now cws comes up with a pun and think they are a genius.
I’m an ACD. And I’d agree. We’re tired and vulnerable.
ACDs have the worst middle management job. It breaks even the best of us. Cut them some slack.
I’m gonna go with creative strategist. I’m confused by the role bc I’m hoping it’s someone who can write and do my job but hasn’t seemed that way.
As someone who started by doing creative and now does strategy, I too am baffled by self-proclaimed creative strategists who can’t actually create 😂
CDs with clear, plastic glasses
*CD1* wipes a tear from under his clear plastic glasses and looks off into his fiddle leaf tree in the corner. A leaf sags. It needs water. We all need more water.
